Ethics and Trends In Human Resource Management
Question 1: HR Professional Ethics
Part A: Read the SHRM Code of Ethics. Review the guidelines under the category of Professional Development. Propose and discuss a learning opportunity that you will pursue to achieve one or more goals related to these guidelines.
Networking within Human Resource circles such as HR conferences and guest speaker events will be a learning opportunity. This will enable me to receive as well as share ideas and seek help whenever I need it. Networking can also be achieved by taking on volunteer roles. This will increase not only my experience but also the knowledge scope of how different Human Resource departments function in various organizations.
Part B: Discuss three examples of ethical challenges that HR professionals may encounter as they apply to modern organizations. Discuss how you would address each situation (not necessarily the solution, but how you would approach the problem). Use the resources provided to support your ideas.
Ethical challenges that HR professionals commonly face are performance appraisal, payment plans, and privacy (Carbery, Cross, 2018). Ethics acts as the basis of performance appraisal, and every employee is entitled to a fair assessment. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
Question 2: Emerging HR Trends
Discuss three current or future trends impacting the HR profession. What opportunities and challenges might these trends present for HR and for the organization? As a human resource professional, what new skills and/or competencies would you need to further develop to adapt to these trends and to continue to be successful in your role? Use the resources provided to support your ideas.
Three current trends affecting the HR profession include artificial intelligence, diversity in the workplace, and employee experience (Carbery, Cross, 2018). Businesses are working towards transforming the HR role using artificial intelligence to remain competitive. Organizations are embracing diversity, and it is the role of HR to ensure that there are no discriminations. Employees are becoming just as important as customers are in business, and the HR needs to focus on providing positive experiences to their employees. By being diverse, an organization proves its commitment to inclusiveness, generating a positive image. A positive customer experience ensures that customers feel appreciated hence will make them loyal and more productive. It could be difficult for organizations to lay off individuals who are minorities without being accused of discrimination. To adapt to these trends, I will need to develop myself professionally by learning requisite skills and gaining useful knowledge (“Code of Ethics”, 2020).
