The essay entails the Executive as the arm of the Government. It indicates the member that makes up the Executive and the history.  The evolution of power, roles and the functions of the Executive is also covered.

The Government of States comprises of three arms that make up the Government.  They include; the Executive, the judiciary and the legislature. (Wilson et al. 2018). The Executive is in charge of the daily activities of the states, including the management of several affairs. However, it is not in charge of making the laws of the land state but instead of implementing. The Executive mainly comprises of the president, the vice president, the cabinet, departments that makes up the Executive, the independent agencies, board commissions and the committees.

The United States was first written in 17th September the year 1787 in the Philadelphia convection. The convection took approximately four months. That is from 25th May to 17th September. It was the end of this period that the treaty was signed and agreed that the Government should have three arms. The main idea here was to form a federal government and ensure power distributed among the three divisions. It was also to ensure that the citizens have freedom and is able to access government services. It was also to check ton the Government and assured it does not make an abuse on its powers.

During the establishment of the first constitution, several agreements were made. The frames were of the move that the powers of the president should be regulated. It that the president should have fewer capabilities over the Executive. (Ikenberry,et al2018). Much energy to the congress. Since then many constitution amendments have been made. Today the president has full power and control because he is not only the head of the State but also the head of the Executive. The president has also had capabilities, and he is the chief commander of all the armed forces. It is in article 2, section 1 of the constitution of the United States.

In the olden days, there was no different ballot box for both the president and the vice president. The voters only cast a single vote once. Counting the one who emerges with majority votes automatically became the president while the second one became the vice president. But due to the constitutional amendments, the system was changed to the current one.

According to article 2 of the constitution, it states that the president will be the head of the executive branch of the Government. Should be an American citizen by birth and should be utmost 35years old. On addition, one should have lived in the States for a consecutive period of not less than fourteen years. Lastly, one will serve for a term period of four years. All this qualifies one to be the head of the Executive. However, the case is much different from the vice president. The vice president is elected on a four-year term but has the freedom to operate under different presidents and unmeasured conditions.

 

 

 

Roles of the Executive

The Executive, as earlier mentioned, comprises of the president, the vice president, agencies and departments. There are a total of fifteen departments of which a cabinet member heads each. They are therefore entitled to carry out the daily administrative activities of the Federal Government. There also exists an agency like the environmental protection agency and the FBI.

President is the head of Government and the State of the United States of America and the chief commander of all the armed forces. The president also has to execute and implement the laws enacted in the house of congress. All the agencies and departments, including their heads, are under the supervision of the president. The president also appoints the leaders of independent federal commissions. A few examples include security and Exchange Commission and the Federal Reserve Board. President has the power to clinch and sign treaties passed by two-thirds of the members of the senate. The president can also give executive orders, especially to the members of the Executive.

 

  1. The vice president

The vice president has a role in giving a helping hand to the president. For instance, when a situation comes when the president is unable to perform the daily duties of the States, the vice president takes over and becomes the president. The vice president can also assume power in the case where the president dies.

  1. The Cabinet

The cabinet comprises of the vice president and the heads of executive departments. It may also consist of top government officials. The members of the council are in charge of advising the president in all matters concerning the State. Members of the board are all appointed by the president after which the house approves them of the senate.

  1. Executive branch agencies, committees and the commissions

There are a lot of works under the executive arm of the Government. Hence those works are done by these departments.

  1. Department of Agriculture

The department is responsible for formulating and implementing policies. It entails issues to do with the growing of crops and rearing of animals. It ensures that farmers are producing quality breeds and products. There are no food shortages since they make sure that farmers have access to all necessary resources needed for agriculture. The department also ensures that natural resources are well taken care of to provide a safe habitat for animals. Every year the department gives the job to 100,000 people or even more to preserve the forest, animals and food production.

  1. The department of defence

The department is to ensure there is security in the country. Of the entire department, it is the biggest with more than 1 million active workers. The headquarters of this department is at the pentagon. Hence the department is in charge of protecting the civilians from criminals and terrorists, primarily through war. It also provides aid to people affected by different calamities and acts as a peacekeeper in disaster zones.

Conclusion

There are many citizens in the States. All of whom needs security, food and access to all government services. To achieve this Government has to distribute its power by forming branches under which there are also departments. ( Lewkowicz et al. 2019).It will ensure products and services reach every citizen at all the width and length of the State. The Executive has been evolving since time immemorial, and today we have depth knowledge of members and roles which stipulated in the constitution.
