Proposal for Organizational  Security Management in Cloud Computing

One of the major success factors for any organization  includes the use and implementation of effective organizational data security measures. This can be achieved through the incorporation of privacy and security in cloud computing. Having served in the management committee from different industries, I find cloud computing being one of the major themes in information security that most companies wish to reap its benefits, and it has gained more concerns in the scholarly work. Despite the significant benefits that crop up from cloud computing, its information security is being questioned by many organizations with its security model presenting a myriad of complications under its cloud model. This research seeks to determine the implications of applying cloud computing in the organizational management system with a deep focus on the cloud computing models, benefits of i=using cloud computing,  the future scope of cloud security, security issues around cloud computing in order to clear the fears behind the implementation of this technology in different organizations.

Since this is a very sensitive and broad topic, I will assess sources supporting and those against the organizational use of cloud computing technology. The assessment will start with a profound exposition on an understanding of the cloud computing technology by  Nanavati who defines cloud computing as a tool for relaying  IT services whereby resources are obtained from the internet through web-based applications and devices as opposed to having a direct connection to the server (Nanavati et al., 2014). The scholar states that many organizations have benefited from using these tools by minimizing their operational costs, which translates into business efficiency. .

Jordan Wilkerson wrote an article titled “Reconsidering the Risks of Nuclear Power” at http://sitn.hms.harvard.edu/flash/2016/reconsidering-risks-nuclear-power/ that explains exactly what nuclear energy is and discusses some of the problems with nuclear energy, including storing radioactive materials and disposing of radioactive waste. The article also compares the health risks of nuclear power to other forms of energy.

(2010).According to a peer-reviewed article by Chang on the Categorisation of Cloud Computing Business Models, cloud computing models include;private cloud which is favoured single organizations more and consists of multiple consumers such s business units and can be managed by services providers charged with the responsibility of taking care of the organizations both off-site and on-site. These public clouds comprises of provisioned infrastructure designed for open use by the public, community cloud which is usually designed for a specific community from h=organizations having sharted concerns as well as the hybrid cloud which allows organizations to use both public and interconnected cloud infrastructure thus enabling them to move application and data between public and private clouds depending on its purpose.

According to the scholar, cloud computing can help organizations in reducing the size of their data centers, servers, personnel, thus reducing their operational costs without affecting the organization’s IT capabilities negatively. Cloud computing also attracts flexible expenses compared to traditional servers, thus increasing its effectiveness. Conversely, the author states that the majority of the cloud computing servers providers are very reliable in their services and workers can access the services from any corner of the world provides they have an internet connection. Further, the scholar recommends the use of cloud computing due to its mobile-friendly app, which allows workers through smartphones and tablets, roaming to check clients out, working from the field or visiting clients from their premises.

The Future of Cloud Data Privacy and Security” Cloud Storage Security, by Wheeler, shows that organizational cloud computing requires an in-depth understanding of the cost-benefit analysis compared to the business in house solutions. The author notes that the cloud should help in reducing the operational capital and expenses without compromising the user’s functionality, including availability. The hardware-agnostic approach, which integrates the world’s leading Internet and SaaS providers commodity architecture, is recommended as the most convenient cloud functionality delivery model.

Cloud computing also  foresee robust security in future  whereby when organizations move to the cloud and  entrust  their organization intellectual property rights to third parties; the cloud providers  will be in a position to provide a  wide rand of security solutions allowing for information-centric approaches  for securing sensitive interfaces between public and private services, end-users as well as physical and virtual infrastructures

Dutta, article on the  Security Issues in Cloud Computing. Acknowledges that despite the many benefits associated with cloud computing, the cloud also requires risk assessment, measures in data recovery, privacy, data integrity and legal issues evaluation, which include regulatory compliance and e-discovery. On this note, service customers are advised to demand transparency from the cloud provider sand also seek risk control processes clarifications.

Cloud computing is facing a lot of controversies since many organizations are uncertain about the effectiveness and the risks associated with it, thus limiting its use. Therefore, it is recommended for firms to purchase these cloud services if only they can handle the associated risks. Firms should also have effective strategies for promoting data security since the adoption of the cloud leads to more data being dispersed into the market. However, the adoption of these systems can help organizations in making informed decisions.

In Most occurrences, technology brings in a myriad of risks and challenges as opposed to rewards, and when these technologies approach organizations, they should make informed decisions of either accepting or rejecting them

In conclusion, cloud computing can be a handy tool for promoting organizational success towards achieving their competitive advantage beside it being a cost-saving tool. However, despite the significant contribution of cloud computing in promoting essential IT modifications from a corporate management perspective,  the basic philosophies behind IT governance still lack some accuracy, thus creating the need for further research. By engaging in this research,  I’m presented with an opportunity to assess the different pros and cons behind the implementation and implications of cloud computing systems, which are very crucial in determining organizations’ coarse of action from an IT perspective.
