Freedoms of the Air
The aviation industry is referred to as the fastest as well as the safest mode of transports in human technological innovation as well as the advancement of the transport sector. During the 1st and the 2nd world war, the aviation industry witnessed significant changes that largely contributed to the further improvement of the aviation sector. This was necessary because troops needed to get to various locations more quickly as well as also ensure that supplies got delivered in time. As a result, there were constant improvements across multiple aviation sectors such as navigation, fuel efficiency in consumption as well as the revising of different aviation laws that governed the air traffic rules and regulations. According to the JPB transportation company report, it was identified that there were specific rules in the freedom of the air. The rules made were developed in the Chicago convention, also referred to as the Chicago convention that was held on the 1st of November in the year 1944. The conference was held to ensure that there was a promotion in the air traffic management systems as well as promoting the healthy growth of the industry.
In the Chicago conference, four significant rules were made, and among the four, two remained outstanding as they addressed critical issues in air travel. Among the two most fundamental states include;
Second Freedom
The right to land in those countries for technical reasons such as refueling without boarding or deplaning passengers (“Chicago Convention of 1944 – JPB Transportation”, 2020). This rule was passed with an attempt to enhance the safety of air travel for the passengers as well as any other air traffic users. The air travel sector is affected by various underlying factors such as weather conditions as well as communication with the control station to ensure that there is the maintenance of effective communication. This is a crucial rule that remains viable in the aviation sector even in the 21st century, given that the government is aimed at enhancing safety operations in air travel. The government has continued to provide massive support for the aviation industry, given that any plane irrespective of its origin or travel destination is provided with the liberty to make emergency landings as well as undertake repairs and maintenance practices. This helps to ensure that the safety precautions of the flight are adhered to and that there is a useful managerial system that provides that there is adherence to basic safety operational guidelines.
Fifth Freedom
The right of an airline from one country to land in a second country, to then pick up passengers and fly on to a third country where the passengers then deplane (“Chicago Convention of 1944 – JPB Transportation”, 2020). The fifth freedom manages to encompass both the third and the fourth freedom, all of which deal with the rules and regulations that concern the picking and dropping off passengers in various flight destinations. The fifth freedom comes with a generalized approach where there is the freedom of a flight to pick and drop passengers at will in various locations. This rule is largely applicable in the 21st century given that passengers from various destinations are involved in extensive travel activities for various purposes such as business, leisure, among other reasons. As a result, the fifth rule is essential in the cultivation of an effective globalization technique where passengers get accorded with more travel freedom
Conclusion
The aviation industry has managed to revolutionize the travel industry where the world has become accessible from any part of the globe, thereby facilitating efficient travel as well as promoting safety for air travelers as well as regulations in various destinations.
