Appropriate Theories in the 21^st Century

The most appropriate theory to carry forward currently is the midrange theory. This theory is deemed the best since it is less conceptualized, which makes it easy to adopt, implement, and even use for comparison as compared to the grand method (Meleis,2011). These theories are directly connected to practice and research, hence can be formulated through observations or qualitative type of research. Midrange theories offer a prior foundation of knowledge that helps in improving nursing practice (Hoeck& Delmar,2018). For instance, there is improved patient care. The theories also help caregivers to realize their overall mission in the medical industry.

Ways to Bridge the Theory-practice Gap

Linking notions, practices, and research helps nurses to apply the invented procedures in their work. This is achieved by creating awareness to the nurses about the ideas behind their profession (Meleis,2011). Well-informed medical practitioners tend to cope with the said ideologies rather than oppose them. Secondly, the use of evidence-based practice (EBP) approach incorporates nursing experiences in providing integrated care to clients (Roy, 2018). The technique also aids nurses to acknowledge the relevance of theory in their career practice. Additionally, the gap can be connected by instilling skills of self-confidence, critical thinking, as well as decision-making skills to nurses. Such skills assist them to critically analyze various situations and take up researches that are in support of the said ideologies..

A repertoire of Nursing Philosophy

Nursing is a broad field that is governed by a set of theories and concepts that aim at providing guidelines throughout medical practice. Therefore, as a nurse, my knowledge of the field is extending tremendously due to the development of more theories that dictate my behavior in the industry. Through these theories, my critical thinking skills have been challenged.

The continued research and theory developments have created an integrated system of practices that have proved to furnish my potential. Reasoning arrived from these theories has assisted in boosting my skills; hence I can provide advanced and quality services that ensure client satisfaction (Roy,2018). These ideologies have also created a yearning of expanding my proficiency in this profession. I believe taking up more research in my field will expose me to more experience.

Definition of Philosophy of Nursing

Philosophy of nursing revolves around the practices and techniques applied by caregivers in their service to clients. It comprises of beliefs, ideologies, concepts that govern this profession. According to the Grand Theory, nursing philosophy is characterized by predicting and directing nursing in various situations (McEwen & Wills,2017). On the other hand, according to the middle-range theories, philosophy is about creating a knowledge foundation that depicts how nurses behave.

Advanced Practice

In my plight to improve my skills in my profession, I will apply knowledge from these theories to achieve a better outcomes. For instance, I tend to research ways of adopting a better therapeutic relationship with my clients. These notions have disputed my current skills hence, calling for a refinement.

Conclusion

Behind any field, there exist support fields that explain its existence. Theoretical approaches in nursing tend to boost knowledge of professionals as well as challenging their skills. Research advocated by the same ideologies has helped improve the quality of services offered to customers; hence, there is increased client satisfaction.
