Gun Violence and Teen Innovators
After carrying out the campaigns against guns and gun violence in the US, these youths have one more step that they can take in ensuring that things change. This step is to ensure that the laws that are made are made in favor of the people as opposed to the gun owners. This is best done by petitioning the leaders to be more conscious of what they do. There is a need for these young people to submit their petitions and memoranda to their leaders both in the senate and in the Congress to ensure that the laws that are made favor them since those in schools have certainly been some of the highest affected group of people. This is anchored on the understanding that the central role of the campaigns as the ones this set of young people have been doing has undoubtedly been aimed at increasing awareness among the public that indeed there is a problem when it comes to gun violence. There is a need for a solution that will be able to deal with it effectively. This is key in the understanding of what are the grievances of these young people. The step of informing or petitioning of their leaders at the state governments as well as the federal governments will be vital in ensuring that they influence the laws that are formed in the country to address the issue.
The National Rifle Association, which is mostly abbreviated as NRA, has been at the forefront of championing the gun policies as well as the making of laws that influence the use as well as safety of the guns as well as the public. This has been done through the lobbying of lawmakers to make laws in a given manner that will ensure the safety of the people as well as the way they handle things. It is clear that even though the NRA managed to influence and lobby for what was viewed as appropriate policies, the lobby group has been unable to achieve many regards to legislation on gun safety not only in schools but also in the public spaces. It is on this note that it is in order to argue out that the organization is likely to be replaced since it is not achieving much that one would be interested to see.
The tide is turning on gun violence in the US. This is based on the fact that instead of sitting and waiting for change, people are now embracing the fact that they have to fight for change for it to happen. It is clear that there is a need to understand that the youth and the young people who are arguably one of the most affected in the case of gun violence in public spaces have joined the bandwagon in advocating for change. If they manage to petition their leaders to enact these changes they are advocating for, then certainly there will be massive changes in the society. Instead of simply taking a back seat, people are now directly confronting the problem not as a reactionary measure after some people have been shot at but rather as a long term strategy aimed at ensuring the issue of gun violence does not become a perennial problem.
