Currently, I am a restaurant manager at Cracker Barrel. Apart from having a bachelors in human services, I am also pursuing my master’s in business management, specializing in human resources. Therefore, with my education background, as well as my current and past positions, I believe that taking a career path in the hospitality industry, is appropriate.

Based on Myers-Briggs personality types, in an open-minded, organized, extravert, social, energetic as well as a supportive person. I believe that these attributes will be very instrumental in my future career goals. Competition the hospitality industry in becoming stiff day by day, and to be an effective leader, a person needs to be open-minded. This allows the leader to accommodate ideas from other stakeholders, such as employees, on how to build a competitive advantage. Besides, for individuals to be successful in the hospitality industry, they need to be social, organized and also energetic. This is because in this industry involves interaction with customers from diverse background and satisfying them requires an individual who is extravert and open-minded.

To grow in the hospitality leadership, one of the personality characteristics that I can utilize effectively is being energetic; this will drive me always to push myself until I attain the career objectives in desire. Besides, being supportive my also help an individual to grow. Supportive and encouraging others may help in making other employees perceive an individual as a leader. Top management may even notice this hence helping in promotion.

Personal and career evaluation is one of the most exciting things to do. This is because they help an individual to determine their personality, acknowledge their strengths and weaknesses as well the best career path based on personality, strengths and weaknesses. I find it very instrumental for an individual to carry out a career evaluation because it challenges them whether their current position is the right one for them and also whether the career path taken is fascinating.

One of the reasons why I am interested in a career in organizational leadership is that the business world is rapidly changing, and being a leader gives an individual the chance to work with a diverse workforce as well and other stakeholders. The diverse stakeholders interacting with the leader may equip the individual with the skills and knowledge of being adaptable as things change. Leadership roles are also challenging, and they make people go above and beyond their job descriptions, and this is one of the reasons why choosing a career in organizational leadership is fascinating.
