Internship Work Plan
Interns working in the office of the police community service in Boston are required to provide different public services to the police department, community department, park department, and to the residents in the community. As an intern, one is given different roles and responsibilities that they work with their daily duties. They include taking routine walks through the parks and the areas that one has been deployed to and identify and deal with possible problems. Aiding in animal welfare and reporting matters and cases to the right persons. Attending to lower urgency police calls, about abandoned cars, damaged property by criminals, theft, parking grumbles, and taking care of the lost and found. Guiding residence to the right resources and completing the necessary case reports and essential documents on the dispatched calls. Writing a report on the resource management project in the Boston community.
Throughout the internship program, the field experience provides me with a chance to learn valuable skills. Some of these skills are conflict and problem-solving abilities, gain the capability of working independently without any supervisions, and attaining the skills in multitasking. Also, working with individuals of different ages, social status, economic backgrounds, and various religious backgrounds helps one gain the skills of being humbleness and patience at work.
The sergeant provides the tasks and supervision needed in the field to an intern. The supervisor states the time the intern is supposed to start their shifts either during day or night time. He or she also gives instructions on how to deal with different cases and situations. Supervisors advise the interns to report any problems immediately in case they need any assistance. They say that for a student to learn, he or she must follow the instructions and the orders to the letter. As an intern, the relationships built, the networks created, and the skills gained makes one realize they have achieved their learning objectives throughout the field experience.
