In the safety memo, the main people are Gordon Baldwin, who is a cable technician of a cable company. The vents range from Gordon resigning from Ma Bell to pursue a career in a jewel. He then later a cable TV field technician. There is Lawrence Walsh, who is the CEO of the cable company in addition to Joan, who is a 33-year-old vice president of the Southern California region who was a manager at the firm. Joan appointed Terry to be the head of the regional safety committee, where she sought out volunteers that helped in forming a committee. Later, Gordon is asked to become the system safety coordinator. He was supposed to perform two responsibilities
The events that happened in the safety memo are that Gordon, who is the safety coordinator, receives a call from administrative assessment and the general manager at around 10. Gordon was required to drop by the office. The manager then told Gordon that he should always be careful about what he writes in memos because there was a misleading statement.
Additionally, there was an issue where there were many employees that were working in the new Arizona location where Gil said he would at the situation. During the daily activities, Gil was seen growling and roaring airing the office for almost two hours. He stated that Gordon used to write a memo accusing him and the firm accusing them of not being committed to safety.
Additionally, he accused Gil of not doing all that was needed in protecting employees. Hence, Gordon had significant doubt concerning Gil’s feeling of being against them. All these accusations and anger were seen as wrong and unfair since the memo was not been full of untruths.
The concise problem in the case of safety memo
The main problem that happened concerned the safety memo which Gordon wrote concerning safety. In the memo, Gordon included that the company through Gil they were not committed to the safety of the employees and that they were not doing much to ensure that employees were adequately protected. This triggered the growling and roaring of Gil in the office, claiming that it was unfair and very wrong. Another problem in the case are that there was unclear communication where Gordon is said to have written a memo to a client, which the manager said it entailed misleading statements. Hence claiming that the memo was full of untruths. Failure to have open communication on the issue led to misunderstanding and too much anger. Gil had never given a chance for Gordon to speak his side of the story or even listened to him. All these issues could have been solved where Gordon would state that what he wrote in the memo was a result of research and a number of previous reports which requested him to help in correcting certain critical safety deficiencies. When Gil and Gordon had a conversation, Gordon states that he was unaware of anything that he jotted in the paper being untrue. Gil justified his feelings that Gordon was not supposed to write anything on the memo. Hence, communication is key in every organization to avoid unnecessary conflicts. With open communication, then Gil and Gordon could have been terminated to prevent Gordon even wishing just to get fired.
