Is Advanced Technology a Boon or a Curse?
Technology has become an essential part of human life over the last few decades, as it is used in every aspect of human life. With the advancement of technology, it started exhibiting some natures that are unpredictable by the creators also. Moreover, sometimes technologies are also misused by messing up all the situations rather than benefiting the requirements of human life. Advanced technologies are quite not neutral for humans, as they have started extending beyond the political boundaries by exceeding the expectations and understanding of their creators (Bridle, 2018). With this, technologies have currently taken control of human lives, which is creating some havoc situations that can devastate human life.
Problems
Various issues can arise due to the over-advancement of technology than the actual human requirements. It can lead to a less-active and less-energetic lifestyle, as people can become lazy with the use of technological requirements. Overdependence on technology can lead to a shortage of physical operations, thus affecting the present along with the future generations (Lew et al. 2018). Moreover, with the emerging situations of artificial intelligence and robotics, the presence of more harmful effects can be observed than the benefitting ones. This is because the introduction of such technologies in the commercial market can lead to massive layoffs, creating a sizeable unemployed population (Bridle, 2018). For instance, a part of artificial intelligence is driverless cars that have already been started producing by large automobile companies. It seems that humans will evidence such cars much before their expectations. However, it is a major alarm for increasing unemployment situations in human society.
Apart from the facts mentioned above, advancements of technology are so fast in the current era, that people are not able to keep track and pace with the fast-changing situations. This is continuously degrading the habits, cultural sense, and ethical sense of humans (Wang et al. 2017). Hence, it can be identified that the advancement of technology is having negative influences rather than having a positive influence on the daily lives of humans. This is more common as technology is getting more advanced rather than the requirements of people.
Potential Solutions
Technology is used in almost every aspect of human life, including commerce, politics, education, healthcare, and others. This requires shaping technology in the most appropriate way so that it cannot affect the daily functions of humans (Wang et al. 2017). Regarding this, it is essential to know the complexities of technology along with their potential functioning. With that, adequate knowledge can be gained on the functioning of technology so that it can be used in the most suitable ways for benefitting human society (Bridle, 2018). It can also be related to the negative situations of human life with the use of technology, which can be surrendered through controlled usage of technology. Moreover, it is required for the current generation to bring appropriate changes in technology so that the future generation does not get affected by its negativities. In case, unemployment is a significant problem for the communities due to technology. It is also required for identifying some options that can help in solving the unemployment problem among people (Lew et al. 2018). Hence, identified problems can be addressed only when people become conscious about the worse sides of highly advanced technologies.
