Last Question of the Lab
In building the zero-dimensional climate models, several constants were used, including Planetary Albedo, Boltzmann, solar constant, and Turning constant. Solar forcing had two components, namely, the increase in solar constant and the decrease in the solar constant, which were obtained by added and decreasing the solar constant by 1%, respectively. The value of the current steady state of the solution found to be 288. In standard solar forcing, the longwave emitted was 237.386, while the earth’s temperature was 288.007.
On the other hand, solar forcing with added energy yielded 239.760, and the earth’s temperature was 288.724 representing a change of 0.717 from the normal. Put, adding strength to solar forcing caused an increase from the standard solar. On the other hand, when electricity subtracted, the longwave emitted reduced to 235.012 same as earth’s temperature that reduced to 287.284. There was a sensitivity decline of -0.722. In essence, adding solar energy increased sensitivity while decreasing solar energy reduced sensitivity.
In terrestrial forcing, using higher Albedo caused a drop in longwave emitted to 236.320, earth’s temperature to 287.683, and sensitivity dropped by -0.32. In contrast, lowering Albedo increased longwave emitted to 238.453, earth’s temperature to 288.330, and sensitivity to 0.323. In sum, increasing Albedo decreased terrestrial forcing while lowering Albedo increased terrestrial forcing. However, higher tuning in terrestrial forcing did not change longwave emitted while the earth’s temperature dropped slightly to 287.291, indicating a sensitivity decline of 0.716. In the laboratory assessment, lowering tuning in terrestrial forcing increased the earth’s temperature to 288.731 while the longwave emitted remained constant.
It is possible that in higher Albedo and higher tuning, some incident radiation was not absorbed, resulting in less emission of energy. However, lower adjustment, lower Albedo, and standard solar forcing all incident energy were absorbed, resulting in the value of 288 obtained through calculation.
