Lydia: Analysis of the Border Constructions
I am interested in writing about the play Lydia since it offers various angles through which an individual can analyze the aspects of border constructions to reinforce the element of magical realism. I chose this play since it is simple, and I can relate to its well since it reveals various complexities in the family set up that I have come across at some point in life. Lydia depicts an influential personality who is not only reliable but also ambitious. This character acts as an influence to many other immigrants who are bound by the fear to explore. I also feel that it is the best to use in the depiction of the various borders that are likely to develop in society.
Topic: The main argument of the paper generally discusses the constructions of borders in the society that is depicted in the play. This topic is broad as it also looks into the incorporation of magical realism and its application in the play. On this topic, I will do further research on the creation of borders, including the areas where it can be created. Also, I will address these issues of border creation using the identified themes of immigration, life, death, and sexual liquidity.
What do you know: The aspect of creating borders in the society is intended to at revealing respects and avoiding conflict that might arise as a result of getting too close. Even so, some boundaries are created as a result of the impressions of people or the stereotypes of society. For instance, learning about the creation of borders based on race, like in the case of Lydia, sends the feeling of a community that is not only racist but also interconnected on racial lines. The topic of illegal immigration is also common in such cases, and having prior knowledge about the same is effective in enhancing the understanding of the play.
