Missing the Point
Introduction
Religion is a matter of beliefs. Christianity is one type of religion that has its central focus on God. One of the ways Christians communicate with God is through worship. Worship generally entails of songs that evoke deep emotion because of the intense and emotional lyrics. However, worship songs now have a different turn, and they do not adequately represent what worship songs are supposed to be about. As such, the book has inspired me to take a more in-depth look into the modern worship songs and understand how they are missing the whole objective of worshipping.
Discussion
Worship should be inspiring and provoke a person to lead a better life. However, modern worship songs only focus on personal relationship with God. Worship songs should, however, have a bigger picture than that. These songs are purposed to fulfill the mission of Christ which is to give hope to the hopeless, save the sinners and restore humanity to the world. The songs we have are so self-absorbed and only talk about the goodness of God because the people feel blessed, saved or rescued. If a non-believer hears these songs, they would not be motivated to get saved because there is no message about hope. Songs about hopes and vision for the future, the peace that comes with salvation and the joy in serving humanity through God will undoubtedly motivate a person to get saved.
Also, worship songs should give the spotlight to God. The songs should not only glorify God but also acknowledge him as the marvelous creator. They should be enriched with spiritual readings and prayer scriptures that specifically talk about the goodness of God. As such, this is contrary to the present songs which congratulate God for making them feel loved. True worship songs praise God even during hard times and recognize Him as God at all times even during difficulty.
Conclusion
Most worship songs have lost the essence of true worship. The songs should be enriched with Bible scriptures in such a way that they motivate people to get saved. Also, they should have God at the center of the worship because after all, the worship is intended for Him.
