Mockingbird discrimination

Discrimination in the modern world happen unnoticed but it’s has been there since the beginning of time. The killing of Mockingbird express the ideas, the roots behaviors and the moral nature of the human. The Mockingbirds is a symbolic word used to show the innocents people thus killing of the mockingbirds explains the killing of the innocent’s people which is a senseless act of cruelty. Racism and its nature is the primary form of discrimination brought about by the author than any other type of discrimination. The work is about a Black American who was accused by a white woman of rape, but a white lawyer defends him as the rape case was a lie. The black man dies after losing the case and going to jail. The work will explain how the symbolic word of killing Mockingbird shows the recurring theme of discrimination.

The killing of the Mockingbirds shown through the mistreatment of the innocent characters, Jem, scout, Tom, and Mayella. Throughout the work there are evident incidences showing discrimination toward these characters which gives an opinion that racial is unjust and cruel way to treat the black Americans, Scouts asks Atticus whether he defends the niggers, this trying to highlight her innocence and how she was victimized for the simplicity and being a tomboy rather than a lady (Lee, 2010). Scouts realize that hatred and ignorance will always find a victim. However, she can maintain human faith despite the unfairness of Tom Robison’s courtroom conviction Dave (1974). The white man’s words over the Black American’s words caused Tom Robison to be convicted for rape because everyone was a racist. The raped was a lie which was created by Bob Ewell just because her daughter requested a favor from Tom as Bob Ewell watched. On the other hand, Jem assumed that racism does not exist though in his faith there is wrong managing of humanity and justice.

In contrast, Atticus experiences the reversed racism when everyone threatens him for defending Tom Robison in court. Through the direct confronting of Atticus with racism and prejudice, he understood evil. Lee (2010) stated that most people have good and bad qualities or both and through this Atticus never lost his faith in the human capacity for goodness (Lee, 2010). Atticus understood that the most significant thing in life is to understand the bad qualities and appreciate the good qualities where he was able to recognize a person by considering things in their point of view Dave (1974). Atticus displays that it’s possible to live without becoming cynical or losing hope.

Furthermore, discrimination was so widespread that it was visible within the white people. According to Lee (2010) Aunt Alexandria explain to Scout that Walter Cunningham was trash and that was the main reason she could not play with him. Aunt Alexandria looks down to Cunningham just because there were poor, not educated and could not bathe often. Citizens themselves do not see the discrimination nor think of it within them Dave (1974). A student asked Miss Gates why the Germans disliked the Jews, and she had no answer (Lee, 2010). If the citizens could not understand why the discrimination of the Jew’s is coming from, how can they know the racism within themselves? Which is a sign of ignorance?

In conclusion, the killing of Mockingbirds explores the nature of discrimination with the humankind. Racism in the modern world is not as bad as in the kill of a Mockingbirds period. Discrimination in any form is a controversial topic, and everyone understands that it is wrong to discriminate other people. The authors express his theme and influence the reader that prejudice is incorrect. The author connects innocence and evil were helping the innocent is a crime. The work aims to educate society on how to treat others through the characters of Atticus.
