Nations today are prioritizing the military when it comes to spending, recruitment, grievances and their endeavours. Political powers have also pocketed the military as their source of strength in countries. The authorities have been brought to speed in appreciating the state military in all their undertakings. Regions, on the other hand, are either standing strong or falling depending on the military forces that they have in place. In regions like the Middle East where radical groups and terrorist attacks are in plenty, the only source of security that a country can have in place is the military. Political leaders from the region use the military as their ladder to earning the trust of the people.

As times continue changing, the military strategies have also been aligning with the technological aspects to cope with the levels being attained by other nations. A good example given by Glantz in the book is the Soviet Military, which has been advancing to being one of the best blocks in the world. The nation has translated the on paper theories to tangible military science, making them a power to reckon with in military powers. The Soviet army is not just well equipped for the contemporary world, but also it is also flexible to changing times.
According to Norheim and Nyhamar (2015), regardless of how competitive the military arena is in the world, the unity of the sector in the international avenue has not been broken down. The militaries of different nations still join hands to fight either for an allied country, multinational political block or an economic block. Contemporarily, nations are coming together to strengthen their economic capabilities and others to gain political autonomy gradually. If one of such united blocks have challenges, they protect each other, not just financially but also militarily. A good example is the United Nations that depends on the military of member states. For some of the blocks, they have even ended up recruiting their own military to protect their member states. The perspective shows how nations today are united for different factors, the military being one of them. And coming together to assist each other during conflicts is something that powerful nations can tap prestige.

No matter how brutal, ungodly and inhuman the military might tend sometime to be; they are one of the departments that is very strict on religion globally. A code of conduct guides the military, besides that though, the military is bound by religion. There are religious leaders in military camps, some of whom are mainly religious practitioners who are supposed to revive the mental health of the officers through religious replenishment. And as the officer respects the worldly laws, there is a supreme being, who is their protector, whom they must also respect and obey.
