Purpose of/Need for the Policy:

School attendance is critical in ensuring that the students register improved academic performances. The objective of the policy is to ensure that the students meet the educational timelines and that they have the best learning experiences. The attendance list will be used to monitor the attendance rate of the students. It is a way of ensuring that they attend all the classes and meet the learning objectives. If a student fails to attend school, their parents are to make communication to the school. However, they must give valid reasons for missing classes. The policy will increase the commitment levels among the students.

Person(s) Responsible for Policy Development

Parents have the primary responsibility for ensuring that their children attend class. They are expected to report any absences or lateness to the school and also explain the reason. In a situation where the student will miss a class, the policy states that the parents will have the responsibility of collecting their assignments. Parents are primarily responsible for their child’s attendance and ensuring that absences and tardiness are reported to the administrators. The class teacher, together with an administrator, will follow up on absences.

Purpose of/Need for the Policy:

The school is committed to providing a safe and productive environment. As such, under zero circumstances will the board and the educators tolerate cases of bullying, harassment, or violence in the school. The board acknowledges that bullying can intimidate students and prevent them from realizing the set educational goals.  The purpose of the policy is to minimize the chances of self-harm or to intimidate other students. The implementation of the policy will come in handy in protecting both the emotional and the physical wellbeing of the students. Individuals who are found to violate this policy will be suspended from the institution. In some cases, they will be expelled from the institution.

Person(s) Responsible for Policy Development: The development of the policy is a collaboration between the students, parents, the board, and the educators. The collaboration is to ensure that there is a smooth implementation of the policy and to ensure there is equality in the process. Additionally, it minimizes possible conflicts between the administrators and the parents.

Process for Developing Policy

The school has public and well-structured communication platforms that will be used to report any incidence of bullying. All the stakeholders will work together as a way of incorporating all the emerging factors in the institution.  Similar attention will be placed on educating the students on the different types of bullying and the consequences of their actions.

The purpose of the policy is to maintain quality education services and ensure there is conformity to all the set educational requirements. There will be a consideration of the academic qualifications and accreditation of educators in the institution.

The persons responsible for implementing the policy include the teachers in the institution, the Virginia Department of Education, and the Educational Administrators.

Process for Developing Policy:

In developing the policy, there is a consideration of the set educational policies and regulations. Secondly, there is an evaluation of the educational needs and the skills required in attaining the set objectives.  During the hiring process, the administrators will ensure that interested educators have the required accreditations.

Policy Idea: Transportation Policy

Purpose of/Need for the Policy

The purpose of the policy is to ensure that the students are given safe and efficient transport to and from school.  For students who will overstay in school for co-curricular activities, there will be transport arrangements to ensure that they are safe and reach their homes. The policy is in line with providing a safe and supportive learning environment for the learners.

Person(s) Responsible for Policy Development: The School administrators, parents, and the transport department will be in charge of implementing the policy. Students will also be briefed on their safety and emergency procedures while onboard the school buses.

Process for Developing Policy

The implementation of the policy is based on a bus routing system. It will allow the parents to be known the time that their children will be picked and dropped by the bus.  There will also be an inclusion of a mobile application that allows for the tracking of the location of the bus and each student. Students and the administrators will work together to determine the bus for each route.

Social Service Support

Policy Idea: Nutrition Services

Purpose of/Need for the Policy

Improved physical and cognitive development of the students is tied to feeding habits. Therefore, the school has a nutritional policy that ensures that students are provided with the right meals. The policy considers the nutritional needs of each learner and the recommended nutritional plans.

Person(s) Responsible for Policy Development: the persons in charge of implementing the policy include School Board Director, teacher’s cafeteria staff, and Supervisor of School Nutrition.

 

Process for Developing Policy:

Parents are at the center of this policy and are to provide the nutritional needs of their children. Parents will work together with the  School Board Director and the Supervisor of School Nutrition and other experts to implement the policy

The management will consider variables such as age, grade levels, special needs, and other factors that may impact on the learning processes. The policy also ensures that there is the adoption of student-centric services and that the strengths and weaknesses of each student are realized.

Prince William County Superintendent, teachers, and parents will be responsible for the development of this policy.

Process for Developing Policy:
