My Strengths and Weaknesses in writing

What are my personal strengths and weaknesses in writing? When I reflect about this question, the first thing that comes to my mind is a job interview.  I, like most people, find this simple question to be the most traumatic moment before an interview panel. I want to give an answer that is imaginative but does not give the interviewer a bad impression of myself. In this paper, I will designate my strengths and weaknesses as I would before an interview panel. I will give specific examples of my strengths and place a positive spin on my weaknesses.

I do belief that life is a learning process and being in a position to recognize my personal strengths and weaknesses can enable me become a better person in every venture, Whether it is positive skills and capabilities that can help me realize my goals or negative character traits that require improvement. Knowing myself and what I can do, has played a very crucial role in overcoming my weaknesses.

One of my greatest strengths that I have recognized as a stronghold when it comes to creative writing is coming up with ideas. I tend to have collective ideas of value when it comes to creative writing. This usually helps me to have a variety topics to make choice from when it comes to creative writing. It’s out of this personal ability that all my classmates have always been interested in being in the same group with me.

George Bernard Shaw once said “If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas”. This great quote always reminds me of the power of ideas as I aspire to go beyond writing application of this strong ability inside me to even coming up with business ideas in future.

Another strength that I possess is the ability to write really well when it comes to subject that I can relate to. This is talent that is most helpful in my creative writing. I can confidently say that, I find it very obvious when it comes to a subject topic which I have had an encounter with or heard narratives about to restructure and come up with very interesting article. This can be well elaborated by one of my recent articles “Modern slavery” which is out of my experience when I read Soul by Soul by one Walter John which explains slavery in ancient America.

The excellent transitioning from one paragraph to the next in” Modern slavery” although can appear more of a contributing factor to my ability on tackling subjects of familiarity in my excellent writing ability, to me it’s one of my strengths when it comes to writing. Why do I refer it as my strength anyway? Well, I hope that we have all encountered a scenario in reading literature materials where there is no attractive connection from one step to the other. Do we finish reading the story really? This explains my reason behind considering this factor as one of my strengths. The attention of my readers is captured till they finish reading my story.

I am sure that because of my strengths, I am good to some extend in what I do. However, I do have weaknesses that I have to repress and improve. One of my personal weaknesses in writing is poor grammar. Currently I have received several recommendations from my readers that I need to improve on grammar to perfect my writing which is good so far. As a result, I have made a decision to be referring my written materials to peer reviewers who will go through them highlighting grammatical errors before releasing to readers. This will play two major roles in improving my writing. First, when correcting the highlighted mistakes, I will have an opportunity to realize the errors and avoid in future and secondly it will make it easy to my readers.

My second weaknesses is Staying on topics when writing. This is especially out of my numerous ideas which call for keen analysis. Although this can appear more of a weakness due to time consumption, to some extend it’s an advantage. It helps me come up with the best topic which will outstand and encourage anybody coming across my work. This is a weakness that I have struggled with since I began writing. It is hard for me to try to control it but I have put some measures to improve. The notion that every idea is a good idea has helped improve this weakness. I tend to choose one topic at once and major on it without considering second thought which may divert my attention to any other.

In summary, evaluating strengths and weaknesses in any venture is something that no one should take lightly. It lets an individual acknowledge his/her abilities which is an important recipe in boosting self-esteem. Similarly, through this process we are able to realize our weaknesses hence taking the necessary measures to continually improve. As a result we can comfortably press on towards achieving our goals with enough force and limited drawbacks.
