Introduction
Newspapers were an important source of information before technological evolution. People in the past days used to rely on the newspapers to know what is trending and breaking news. However, not all households could afford this as some took it as a luxury. The use of newspapers is still in existence even in the present day that is occasioned by technological innovations and inventions. However, what has changed is that there are nowadays available in both soft copy and hard copy.
One of the newspapers that I read online and in hard copy is the New York Times. This paper had coverage of the current global issue, which is coronavirus. What I liked about this newspaper is that it carries a detailed review of the breaking news about the issue. A copy of it can be accessed online using this link https://www.nytimes.com/. What I didn’t like apart this issue is that it covers other irrelevant stories in too much detail, and gives a snapshot of those that are important.
Conversely, the format that I am most likely to use is that whereby I, first of all, highlight important issues. In this case, I would have considered what the current issues facing people is. I would have then prioritized such kind of issues after determining which is the most critical. This is because people will be willing to buy newspapers that cover critical and crucial information. Personally, I don’t read newspapers regularly. The reason behind this is that I get news from social media sites. For instance, I can get what is trending on twitter. This makes newspapers to be useless to me. I take it as a waste of money to buy newspapers.
Nevertheless, a reflection of my household shows that my parents liked reading newspapers. This could be a generation thing as they didn’t have various source of information or news. My dad could not stay without a newspaper. The funny thing is that no one of my siblings was interest in reading it.
Last but not least, when it comes to my choice of reading a newspaper or watching, I prefer watching. The reason behind this is that reading newspaper is time-consuming. Apart from that, reading is generally boring. Watching is full of life than reading.
Conclusion
Newspapers are not so popular as they were before. This is because people are now advanced to other sources of information and news. One can get information from various social media sites. This is the case, especially for the young generation. Therefore, the newspaper can be said to be an older generation thing.
