“On Reason”
After having completed our short unit on reason, please take approximately 3 pages to reflect on our readings from Pope St. John Paul II (Fides et Ratio), Plato (Apology, Euthyphro), and Pope Benedict XVI (“The Feeling of Things, The Contemplation of Beauty”) and our in-class discussions of them. Summarize the main ideas about rationality, truthfulness, and the human pursuit of true knowledge that you gained from these readings and discussions. To the extent that you’re able, comment on how these texts may represent a point of contrast with the views espoused by Nietzsche and perhaps also Dennett. You need not share your own personal views on these matters, but you’re welcome to do so![unique_solution]
