A prominent example of the silo system is an electronic management system that is used for the collection of medical reports. Through this process, hospital staff can exchange information only within the hospital network system. They cannot exchange this information out of the hospitals. However, the silo has created more challenges than its benefits. In some cases, it has been observed that workers cannot share the information of a team with another team within the same organization. This increases the efforts of the employees and hampers the work progress. It also disrupts the information sharing with the patients who need to know the truth of their health conditions.
