Pearl Harbor`s surprise attack

Pearl Harbor`s surprise attack still plays a significant role in Americans and its government. The events that took place on that fateful day always remind the citizens what matters the most to them, including their lives and the lives of those dear to them. Pearl Harbor attack represents survival, hope, and showed what it means to fight for freedom. There were instances where people thought America would not be caught unawares, but the bombing proved otherwise. Regardless, the citizens stood in unity to regain their superiority over Japan. The attack led the two nations to enter into World War II, where Japan was no match for the American military strength.

More significantly, Pearl Harbor is the reason why the United States took part in World War II. When Congress voted to have the nation engage Japan in war, only a single voter declined from acknowledging the majority vote. Regardless, the U.S engaged Japan in four years of fighting to revenge the bombing on Pearl Harbor. If not for that event, the U.S would not have participated in World War II from the onset. As such, Pearl Harbor represents a memory the Americans had to pay to attain freedom. When the country declared war on Japan, the people vowed to protect their country at all costs, and fight for their freedom and peace. As the U.S declared war on Japan, Germany and Italy joined Japan to fight the United States.

Historians argue that Japan was too quick to celebrate its victory in the United States after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Japan had feared U.S capacity to manufacture large scale weaponry, and therefore, took their attack metrics lightly as compared to how the U.S retaliated. Japan’s tactics were to stop the U.S from taking part in the Pacific War, and the attack would render them weak to deploy its military personnel and machinery. In the long run, Japan had miscalculated their attacking strategies into thinking the U.S would no longer pose a threat to them. However, Pearl Harbor drew the line on the U.S joining World War II (Lee 124), ultimately forcing Japan to surrender. Under the leadership of Roosevelt, the country was determined to fight off its enemies and earn victory over Japan and its allies.

Remarkably, the attack on Pearl Harbor spells out the ability of the United States to pick itself up and forge a resistance against all sorts of enemies. The devastating and unexpected actions of Japan on the U.S mark the coming together of people to fight for their freedom and supremacy. Citizens also played a significant role in supporting one another in the recovery process. They united to take part in World War II and showcase their prowess. Today, we rejoice in their triumph, unity, and resilience. Their actions and dedication will forever be remembered and engraved in the history of the United States. Pearl Harbor can be termed as more than a memory. It is an example of the aggression of people to stand together to preserve their liberty.
