Philosophy of Healthcare
Mission plays a vital role as far as health care is concerned. The mission characterizes the direction followed by an organization. The mission statement is the provision of quality healthcare services to the sick. The mission was started following the poor conditions that had existed in the hospital before. Initially, patients were not accorded quality services in hospitals, but after the development in the health sector, the health services were improved, and patients would now be accorded quality services. The health condition of a patient is non -negotiable. The policy would indicate that a patient’s health should come first despite other considerations such as a lack of bills to pay for the services offered. In other words, a patient should first be attended to even if they don’t have the medical bill at that moment.
Everybody requires health care. Some people have the tendency to visit hospitals only when they fall sick. This should be discouraged because one might be having signs of a certain disease that can only be identified when they go for medicals checkups. Constant medical checkup ensures that an individual is able to retain a healthy body. The sick also should visit the hospital for diagnosis purposes and actual treatment of the disease. Healthcare is a fundamental right to all people. All individuals have the right to access the hospitals whenever they fall sick. The right to health access is wide. An individual is entitled to access quality medicine as well as treatment, control, and prevention of diseases. An individual is also entitled to accessing health from the highest level attainable.
Treatment costs should be calculated on the basis of hospital stays. This is because one is likely to spend more when they have to be admitted to hospitals. Accommodation fees, food, and in some cases, medical expenses have to be included. Therefore, the number of hospital overstays can be fair in the determination of treatment costs; drugs might not necessarily be a good measure of treatment cost mainly because some of these drugs are donated for free while others are not meant for sale. Therefore, charging patients medical bills based on the drugs they take may be a bit biased. Health maximization is one of the ethical decisions that answer the questions. Health maximization ensures that doctors are well taken off by doctors and are given the best health service available without any kind of discrimination by doctors. Beneficence is another value that would address ethical decisions. Doctors towards patients exhibit beneficence. It simply means expressing good deeds towards the patients by the doctors.
Healthcare can be administered to a larger number of people when it is made universal. Making healthcare universal means the greatest number of people will be able to access hospitals, and thus a healthy lifestyle will exist. More so, the majority of the people are middle-income earners who might not sometimes afford access to health in bigger hospitals. If I have to decide between multiple injuries, the one that is severely injured is the one that I would choose. This is because the person who is not severely injured might have some time to survive while the one who is critically injured. My faith tells me that the critically injured person has equal chances of living as well. If anybody can decide the comfort measures of the patients, I would get information from trusted sources. The only trusted place that I can think of is a bank. The reason why I trust banks is that they deal with huge finances, yet they remain loyal.
Conclusion
To conclude, everyone, whether a patient or a healthcare worker, has their way of coping with hard and painful situations and finding comfort in their undertaking. Faith and healthcare are interlinked, considering faith deals with this life and how we should leave it while health care is about improving this life through medical means(Advent Health University, 2020). Regardless of what an individual believes in, it is paramount to be aware of the religion within the healthcare setting as a healthcare provider. This is because healthcare providers are bound to meet with different people who are impacted by their faith and provide better services to them, the appropriate care needs to be taken. More so, healthcare providers who have much connection between faith and healthcare can be pursed in taking careers that deal with a sensitive patient who is even influenced by faith will making various treatment decisions.
