Platoon Attack on an enemy

An attack could get defined as a calculated plan of a series of actions that are executed to attain more strategic territory or a given tactical goal. When performing an attack or when an opportunity comes up as a suitable time to complete a planned attack, then the critical approach lies in the ability to put the enemy in a vulnerable position that will make them susceptible as well as disadvantaged thereby increasing the chances of winning the battle at hand (Points, 2006). During an attack, the element of surprise has been identified to be among the advantageous leading positions that a given side could possess. This is because the insurgents are caught off guard and may not have the opportunity to re-group or fall into battle strategy, thereby giving the invaders the upper hand.

In our platoon attack, we intend to conduct a penetration attack on the enemy objective. This is because, based on the data and information gathered regarding the enemy, the fortification of their base is quite flawed, thereby making it possible to infiltrate into their territory and orchestrate an attack from behind.  The squad will be organized into three tiers i.e., the shooting, support, and breach. The offense will be responsible for penetrating the enemy’s base and laying low as they wait for the breach tier to set in an open fire. Once the enemy retaliates to the breach tier offensive attack, the attack will initiate a counter-attack inside the enemy base, thereby reinforcing the breach. In case the two tiers in action get overwhelmed in the attack, then the support tier will come in to bolster the penetration.

The offense orchestrated will have two main characteristics i.e., the element of surprise as well as concentration.  The element of surprise will set in at which point a successful penetration, and the insurgents will not have any information on the intruders in their base. As a result, once the attack tier opens fire, the enemy will be focused on resisting penetration. However, this will not work in their favor, given that there will already be members of our attacking force in the enemy’s camp.  As a result, when the penetration tier reinforces the attacking one, it will be a won battle as the battle formation of the insurgents will be disoriented.

Concentration, on the other hand, is the other element that the attack will exhibit. It is necessary to understand that dispersed forces are difficult to attack as compared to spread out forces. Our platoon will, therefore, apply the spread out a battle strategy where members will be required to take variant positions to launch the attack. This will make it difficult for the enemy to identify the specific origin of the attack, thereby giving us the upper hand in the attack. Given that dispersed forces are not lucrative for the attack, the insurgents will have a difficult time coming up with a defensive strategy that will serve as the upper hand to our platoon.

Among the 5key breaching fundamentals that we could apply in our attack include, Suppress, Obscure, Secure, Reduce, and then Assault (Endsley et al. 2004). This will be exhibited in our attack where each tier of the platoon will be required to play a specific role to meet each of the five SOSRA breach strategies, which will be essential towards contributing to the overall success of the attack.
