Policy Allocation: Addressing The Populace’s Needs

Apart from the constitution, to address societal needs which arise from time to time, the state often resorts to public policies. Furthermore, on account of the dynamic economic environment, often, policies are required to ensure the economy is stable—thus, individuals can gain as well as the state. In addressing these needs, some are often prominent—receiving the most attention—while others receive slight attention.

The Most Addressed Need

In most states, without the slightest doubt, the issue of health receives the most attention. Without proper health, there cannot be prosperity; without proper health, there cannot be happiness. To ensure this need is adequately addressed, several states have passes public policy after public policy. Measures have been put in place to ensure the health of the nation is secured. Foremost in this processes are legislators—these, invested with power by the citizens, represent their needs in parliament.

After long, careful considerations, they enact policies, and ensure they are implemented to the letter. As such, in these policy allocation processes, legislators are more involved. Occasionally, they counsel with corporations, citizens, and other countries, but most, if not all, of the power is on their hands.

Conformably, when the most prominent needs in society are ranked, the researchers always rank the need for proper, affordable healthcare among the top three. From these findings, it is clear that the health issue is pivotal to the prosperity of a nation (Palmer & Short 2000). In its absence, no state would stand–both the government and its citizens would fail. In recent years, there have been many policies.

In these policies, programs for education, research, regulation of some health professions and health systems are found. After enactment, these measures implemented, and, as a result, the citizens’ quality of life, the child mortality rate, the life expectancy—all these improve incredibly. As a result, the country increases in effectiveness in performing its projects and the people in their carrying out their daily endeavors. Feeding from this success, the nation’s economy grows and develops dramatically. To sum up, then, the issue of health is pivotal, while the power of creating and enacting public policies is mostly held by legislators—who, occasionally, consult corporations, countries, and their citizens.

The Most Neglected Need

One need is often overlooked. Although it may be contended, public policies on security are often few—this is because this need is usually perceived as personal. To put it differently, the state often assumes that security is the concern of the citizen. An excellent example of this is the problem permeating America. It has become almost impossible to solve the gun control issue. Reason being, the very legislators who are supposed to offer solutions keep offering problems and excuses (Spitzer 2015). The vast majority believe that guns controls should be enacted, but, unfortunately, the only place where the decision can be made there is deep controversy—in the legislative houses.

Conclusion

In conclusion, public policies are entirely crucial to the economic growth and development of nations. They ensure citizens are in the right state of health and their security is secured. With this in place, the government can work effectively, while, at the same time, the citizens can work efficiently. In a world as dynamic as this, public policies are indispensable. For the needs not addressed, however, states should find means of doing the necessary, otherwise fearful results would ensue.
