POS350 D6 Answer 1&2

Response #1

Many economic growth strategies designed by developing countries have failed due to unequal allocation and distribution of resources. Citizens in the developing nations elect into power individuals bearing similar ethnicity, religion, or class. The leaders choose to distribute most resources to their affiliated groups. Ethnic groups control politics. Therefore, since the politics controlled by ethnicity is intense, the leaders unethically support their groups. The leaders misuse public resources to their interest, hence minimal economic growth. According to a corruption index report of 2016, most developing countries are corrupt. Public resources are shared among few fraudulent individuals and, consequently, the unequal distribution of national resources. The states are forced to lend funds and grants to assist in sustaining the economy. The millions or billions borrowed undergo the same path of corruption. The succeeding leaders follow the same suite and improve the welfare of their specific ethnic or religious groups. Furthermore, the incumbent leaders use government resources to remain in power.

Response #2

Social divisions are the leading cause of slow economic growth. The leaders in power give subsidies and favored taxes to sectors, businesses, and individuals of their choice. Minority or unrepresented groups are left out. It is crucial to understand that if many people are left out on government policies, unemployment rates ought to increase. Consequently, income levels will reduce. Many families will be forced to endure low standards of living due to a rise in the rate of poverty. The effects of unequal distribution of resources due to social disparity are uncontrollably many: youths turn to crime to survive, people prefer inadequate housing, and children cannot afford to be educated. The social groups that are favored will thrive while others suffer. Most countries in Africa and Latin America are affected by social division, hence the high number of corrupt and developing states. The governments need to build strategies that effectively allocate and distribute resources.
