Practical Application of Computer Skills at the Work Place
I have worked as an IT administrator, and I appreciate some of the skills learned in the computer class. I have been able to build a successful career from the theories learned in class plus some of the personal development skills from the session.
Working as a system administrator, the skills learned in data sharing have helped in understating the data sharing process, which applies to the monitoring of the company activities. I learned about the use of chef software, which works like blockchain technology is allowing and verifying the user interfaces in accessing the company sites and all the activities. The access system has also helped me in establishing a security system in the Hadoop cluster. Most of the current companies have faced the challenge of cybersecurity, which has targeted their information-sharing system and used it against their conscience to bring down their activities. Working as system administration, the core objective was to ensure the security of the organizational information and the data-sharing interface. Therefore, the Chef software provided the best platform to learn how to secure the data.
In the session, I learned about log interpretation of the user, which has helped in developing troubleshooting activities. The user’s jobs are also examined in the process to enable learn some of the challenges facing the team and using the information to educate the team on their weakness and strengths. The analysis skills leaned also will allow one to identify some of the system breaches and susceptibly to risks, which is used in developing a team working schedule. Again, I learned about the log file analysis, which is applicable in determining the failures in the company system. Notably, any fault in the system might be challenging to trace literally and might take time without the application of the log file analysis. It also helps in the study of any unusual behavior in the system, which could expose the whole system to any security breach.
Most importantly, the computer class was so diversified that we learned some of the managerial skills, such as working in teams and solving the team problem. Working as the system administrator, I had several employees under my watch as well as a diversified team to work together with. The theories of team building learned in the session ensured I found it easy to interact with the team members. Being the leader of the team, I was faced with some tasks such as solving the team conflicts, which I am sure I tried my best based on the theories learned in the session. I was well equipped with an understanding of personal skills knowledge, which is the core consideration when solving team conflicts. I was also able to work in the changing company environment despite the diversification and specificity in the company activities.
In summary, the computer class provides both the IT skills and the social or rather the interpersonal development skills required at the workplace. In as much as the administration of the company, the system needs the practical skills, the management of the team members, and working together is key in achieving the company goals. Through the class, I learned both the technical expertise in the security administration as well as the interpersonal skills applicable at the workplace.
