Homelessness is an issue that affects different age groups as well as populations. For example, one of the most common victims of homelessness is veterans. Majorly, the U.S. is known to have established various veteran subsidy programs to assist with their transition to the civil world (Leavitt). Veterans are victims due to their mental status that is often associated with the post-traumatic disorder. When this condition affects the veterans, they are often linked with behaviors such as substance abuse, aggressive behavior, isolation. If they do not receive adequate medical attention, they often become addicts who, in the long run, become homeless (Leavitt). Therefore, it highlights that homelessness among veterans begins after they are released from duty, they find it hard to cope with civilian livelihoods and the ProblemProblem occurs after being diagnosed with PTSD and do not receive quality treatment.

Status of the Problem

Homelessness is an issue for homeless individuals and society as a whole. The primary reason for it being a societal problem is due to insecurity, exposure to diseases, and enhances the standards or become victims of homelessness. Besides, homelessness increases the norms of health issues due to exposure to extreme cold, heat, and lack of adequate sanitation; thus, exposing the victims to preventable health issues and preventable infections. Also, it minimizes property value as well as drives off tourists.

Besides, it will improve the GDP of the city since they will have access to employment, education, and community health services. Having access to homes and accommodation will enhance the health and well-being of the cities. Nonetheless, ending homelessness will improve on the decline of costs, especially on health admission and crisis services.
