Question 1

The temperature drops in the process of freezing since, during the process, the solvent freezes resulting in the concentration or amount of solute increasing. Also, molarity is proportional to the freezing depression point. Likewise, the more the solvent freezes, there is an increase in the molarity of the solution. Because freezing point probably depends on the amount of present solute, there will be further depression of freezing point since the increasing amount of concentration of solute, the temperature drops.

Question 2

In case a miscalibrated thermometer was used in the experiment, it may cause the molar mass determined to be similar as if a correctly calibrated thermometer were used. The reason being that the experiment and calculations only include a change in temperature as well as not requiring the use of correct temperature reading. Therefore, by using the same formula, one would get a similar change in temperature if there was the use of the thermometers.

Question 3

Molality is used but not molarity while expressing concentration for the equations involving boiling point elevation as well as freezing point depression since molality is termed as being proportional to both of them. Moreover, molarity is known to be independent of temperature, and the experiment includes using a solvent and a solute that are not the criteria for molarity as it involves moles per litre.

Question 4

Aside from the production of soap, then Glycerol may be produced from the fatty acid’s waste as the starting material. The reason being fatty acids are esters.
