Preventing Drones Carrying Explosives from Entering the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The project chosen is dealing with a company aiming to prevent drones carrying explosives from entering the state of Saudi Arabia. The country has its laws and regulations that require to be followed for proper execution and acquiring the legal status of operating in it. Each business or company is required to get a license plus a labor visa from a body known as Saudi Arabia General Investment Authority (SAGIA), which is helping in all the approval processes needed for foreign companies to operate in the country legally. The authority gives several incentives like complete foreign ownership of property in some industries, low capital requirements, tax incentives when the companies are located in less developed locations, and the ability to sponsor foreign employees. No restrictions on the currency in the country and payments could be done freely without taxes. The country is a monarchy without a legally binding constitution, but it is governed by the basic laws of the royal decree adopted in 1992. Local agencies will be appointed to act as representatives receiving the drones, screening them, and providing security approval that the drones are safe, free from explosives, or spying gadgets. The Saudi Arabian commercial agencies will provide helpful information about the companies importing drones, the agents selling, storing, and delivering them. The company will now work with the agents, as they will have gained permits to work as commercial agents. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry will be responsible for this type of registration, which is applied for during the first three months since the state agreed to allow the company to operate legally.
Branches of the company will be set-up in significant cities receiving international flights, and the towns located at entry points in the country, to facilitate easier operation and screening activities of goods arriving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A license to allow the formation of branches will be issued by the SAGIA and will be subject to the Foreign Law and regulations Authorities. All the registration procedures are appropriately followed, from the minimum capital needed for the opening of branches in the state to the technologies that will be applied in helping to check the drones. Wages, innovation, and related services should all follow the rules as stipulated in various law bodies of the state. Tax in Saudi Arabia for foreign investors is applied to a flat rate of 20%, but are different for companies dealing with natural gases, oil, and hydrocarbons. Returns will be filed depending on the company’s fiscal year, failure of which attracts penalties from the state government.
The other area of concern is the auditing and accountability processes involved in ensuring the businesses done in the state are legal and follow state rules to the latter. They are done annually by independent auditors, adhering to the requirements of the Royal Decree of 1989. All the Arabic accounting records are maintained within the country. The labor laws are regulated by the Work and Workmen Regulations to ensure the contract is valid, wages and working hours are followed, protection of workers, immigration rules not violated, and termination of contracts follow legal procedures without discrimination. Those are the primary requirements for starting a company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and by following them, the company will get approval, and operate in the state legally.
