The nursing industry is sensitive and technical and requires people to communicate effectively and maintain personal values ​​and ethics that reflect their professional behavior (Haddad & Geiger, 2018). Patients rely on the ability of nurses to adhere to ethical standards in health care facilities and private life (Östmanetet et al., 2019). Today, the world is like a global village with various social networks. Depending on the platform or number of individual subscribers, messages, or messages on social networks can be viewed by thousands or millions. Therefore, nurses must ensure that their online activities do not violate ethical or normative codes. However, due to the nature of social networks where people can post something and the reward system included in the “Like” and “Comments” sections, most nurses coordinate their actions with professional requirements. (Trobec & Starcic, 2015) This article is an assessment of authors’ activities on social networks, taking into account personal and professional ethics.

The author is reasonably active on social networks and has a significant number of subscribers. Among them are colleagues, school friends, nurses, and some patients. Some of the activities she performs on the Internet may be considered unprofessional, unethical, or inappropriate. For example, her followers posted photos that led to a discussion of the problems nurses face on the ground. However, the conversation continued until the discussion and explanation of the patient who feared to serve. The patient did not violate HIPAA because no mention was made of the exchange of the patient’s name or photo. Still, the author’s conversation was inappropriate and contrary to her ethics.

Discuss why nurses have a responsibility to uphold a standard of conduct consistent with the rules governing the profession of nursing at work and in their personal lives. Include a discussion of how personal conduct can violate HIPAA or be considered unethical or unprofessional. Provide an example of each to support your answer.

Nurses are expected to act in accordance with the nurse’s professional ethics. This is because they are closely related to the patient, so their misbehavior and attitudes can directly affect the patient’s outcome and satisfaction (Morrell Konda, & Grant -Kels, 2019). For example, nurses can tease patients and, despite good intentions, can easily affect patient recovery. Nurses must respect patients and maintain dignity, confidentiality, and confidentiality in all care-related situations. Or communicate with them or colleagues. To do this, you need to make sure that their actions comply with professional standards and ethics. Nurses need to recognize and understand patient needs and feel as comfortable as possible in the hospital as well as in themselves (Trobec & Starcic, 2015).

Nurses must ensure that their actions do not cross occupational boundaries and do not violate HIPAA rules. Personal behavior is likely to lead to violations of patient privacy and confidentiality. It can also be considered unethical and can result in lost work. For example, when an actor in the TV series ‘Empire’ was admitted to a hospital, many doctors and nurses lost job to see their medical history without permission (Morrell Konda, & Grant-Kels, 2019). Another example of unethical behavior is discussing the patient’s condition and medical history with other colleagues, comparing the patient’s health, or taking the medication with other patients.

Based on the assessment of events in social networks, the author notes that she respects others on the platform and contributes to their growth and well-being. The author knows that there is no reward for neglecting people, especially patients. As a Christian, she must be kind and encourage others. However, there are several areas where her activities on social networks should be improved. For example, she ought to talk about patients with respect and love, despite the problems they encounter when caring for patients. Therefore, in the future, she will change her attitude, in continuing to learn about professional abilities and talking about her work and patients. She should improve the conversation with other nurses and reminds her colleagues to adhere to professional and personal ethics when discussing work.
