Introduction

In its last meeting, the Board decided to scale up the database design process and incorporate components into the new system that are important to the organization. The development of this new system and thus the creation of a database management system that is unique to the organization is critical for the improvement of data consistency in its manipulation, collection, and distribution across the company’s operational structure without incurring additional costs or risks. As per the Board’s request to prepare progress reports on the development of the database system, the following progress report lays out essential elements and highlights the progress made to incorporate these elements as crucial components of the new design. More importantly, the report also outlines various steps and measures required as living instruments for up-to-date reviews and adjustments in a bid to improve the functioning of the new design system in line with the National Investment’s needs and business environment

Work Completed

To date, I have a clear understanding of the company’s needs. Using sample data I received on inquiry during the initial stages of designing the new database, I have been able to use this information to complete the inception phase of the system successfully within the stipulated period. Additionally, the project idea and scope were efficiently finalized within the initial stages of the process and approved for implementation by the relevant department.

Following methods and best practices provided for the project design, the project successfully moved into the design phase for the creation of the database model, which aims to support the company’s objectives and operations. This phase has been vital in making sure that the final product meets the set user and system requirements I have also been able to design other components of the system in creating procedures that are helpful in the transfer of data into useful information.

Current Work

I continue to expand my designing scope to ensure that the database model is fully capable as I gear the system into the implementation and loading phase of the design process. It entails a compilation of tables, indexes, domains, attributes alongside storage and performance requirements, this phase is vital in implementing the various specifications of the design including the critical components for National Investments as an investing company.

Work to be done

While the progress made in developing a reliable database for the company is so far encouraging, there is still a remaining section of work to be done. It includes the testing and evaluation of the database to ensure that its security, performance, integrity, and recoverability is unmatched. The operational, maintenance, and evolution stages are also part of the work to be done. It is to ensure that the database meets the expectations and needs of the company.

Challenges and Setbacks

– A possible change of time due to delays in the collection of information may affect the completion of the project in time.

– Limits on Scalability affect the capacity to change in size or scale the database hence limiting the system’s capability to handle an increase in the amount of data and users.

Conclusion- Overall Appraisal

I recommend the continuation of reliable technical assistance and resources for this project. However, given the complexities of a new database system, I anticipate the need for a transitional period that will ensure that once the new system is up, it can fully function and achieves its purpose. I foresee no major problems and expect to complete the project smoothly.
