Project Execution, Control, & Closure
Project summary
Tracking athletes has become a hurdle for many coaches and event organizers for some time now. The only thing that remains constant is that the monitoring period of an athlete can be narrow using individual approaches. Several benefits can derive from monitoring athletes. First, it leads to concise and effective communication between the staff and athletes. Second, monitoring reduces illness and injuries by observing changes and trends. Third, monitoring improves training outcomes by controlling power and fatigue with greater precision. Lastly, monitoring helps coaches to understand the kind of training every athlete needs and the recovery processes of athletes (Hallén & Ekstrand, 2014).
This project will, therefore, attempt to elaborate on the development of systems to track an athlete’s position as he/she runs on a race track or moves around a football pitch. The track performance software will be embedded in specially designed shoes or clothes. It will provide tactical data on how the athlete utilizes the field, as well as their velocity, which will update coaches on the training requirements. Challenges
The main challenge about the tracking system is having a set of questions that will help in collecting the necessary information. The tracking device must have questions that are broad enough to receive the vital information that may help in giving the right analysis. And also, the issue setting should not be too complicated hence leading to wastage of time. When a system has questions that don’t match the output that is needed by the coach, it may lead to the coach using the wrong information to better performance. It can neither help the player nor the coach since they are both relying on false news. Solving the problem can be done by programmers designing the right question depending on the sport one is participating in, therefor enhancing the accuracy of data analysis. The coaches plus players should also take part in the designing of the questions, or there should be guidelines that control the setting of the problems. The questions should also consider design to the goal that a team wants to achieve. The sports bodies should also help in setting standardized questions, and it will help in enhancing benefits and also creating a fair play among athletes
The second main challenge is ensuring that the athletes enter the correct information into the monitoring system. The problem is the clients who want to use the system are worried about, some of the athletes decide that feeding the wrong information will increase the ratings of him/her. What they forget is that forces build a team from different sides, and honesty is a virtue that may lead to positive goals. The way to solve this problem is making sure that the relationship between the athlete and the coach is top-notch, where the coach takes most of his time to monitor the way the players perform. In doing so, the coach can see the input that one is making, and the result from the machines rhyme. In case of any discrepancies, it means that the athlete is not 100 percent genuine. Another way to tackle this issue is by making sure that the recruiting of athletes has high levels of discipline, or they have integrity. These qualities are proof that the chances of one interfering with the system is very low.
Another challenge that is associated with the system implementation is that some coaches have an assumption suggesting that the system is time-consuming. Hence, they will not have the needed enough time for productivity. It also affects the training time that a team needs for preparation. The issue can resolution can be by making sure that the system user has clear and relevant questions. The items that appear have a range of responses, or they are accurate and swift inputs. The coaches should also go through vigorous training about the system, reducing the consultation time about the network during exercise. There is need also of having a straight forward logging system that a player can easily log in to the system. Therefore, the coach is quickly accessing information — lastly, another big problem concerning the implementation of the system. The system should make sure that the data collected is precise, or it can be effectively used by a team to improve their results effectively. Solving the issue will help by making sure that the question used is very definite and touches specific matters.
Earned value management
The company will use the EVM metric to help in determining the value of this project. So that it may help in rating the performance of the project, and this will make the project to be able to deliver on time and also to be considerate about the budget (Fewings & Henjewele, 2019). It will help us in tracking the money spending versus the money that had been in the budget. It will ensure that we have a very comprehensive overview of the project condition.
The critical elements of the EVM metric that will apply in this project will be as follows. First, Planned value (PV), it will be used at the beginning of the project. It will display the total planned value of the project, and it is the budget that will enable the implementation part of this project to its conclusion. The PV will help the project to set the schedule for baseline performance. Therefore, it will guide the project in ensuring its delivering is on time. Second, Actual Cost (AC), it will show us the actual cost that the project would have used. The primary duty will be displaying the amount of money that has been used by the project over a specified period. Third, Earned Value (EV), it will be the critical metric to be used in the project. It will help in showing the amount value that the project would have generated over a certain period after its introduction to the market.
Closure phase
In the closing stage of the project, the project will make sure that it hands over the deliverables to the customers. Making sure that the documentation of the project is passed over in the right manner and also making sure that all the supplier contracts have been canceled (Kerzner, 2018). Releasing of the working staff and equipment that were in the project. Informing the stakeholders about the closure of the project. A post-implementation review will be done on the project, and it will help in knowing the success the project had and also noting the lessons that have been learned from the project.
