Each person will be assigned to one of the propositions appearing on the November 8^th Ballot.  Each person is responsible for putting together a fact sheet and presentation about their proposition.  You will need to educate the class about their Proposition including: what the proposition will do if passed and how the proposition will affect Government, Business and Society if enacted; and who are the sponsors of the Proposition and who are the major opponents.  An outline of the presentation is due one week before the presentation.

The class hasn’t started yet I am just getting a head start before I am issued the two other group members. Because it is a lot of work.[unique_solution]

I have selected Proposition 64 – Legalizing Marijuana

1. Outline: One week before the date of the scheduled presentation each person must turn in an outline showing the format of their presentation and order in which the topics will be covered.
2. Fact Sheet: You must turn in a fact sheet addressing the pros and cons of your proposition with a bibliography showing where you obtained the information in the presentation.  The fact sheet must be typed and include: a) an original summary of the pros and cons of the Proposition; and b) a bibliography showing where the information in your presentation was found with at least 10 different sources.

• Individual Paper: On the day of the group presentation each individual must turn in:  a) a brief summary of how they contributed to the group work; b) an assessment on a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) of each other group member’s participation; and c) two multiple choice or true false questions (with answers) for the midterm based on their proposition. Just 2 questions for me is fine. I will just have them deal with the technical work: PowerPoint and video. The writing portion is what I am having you do, of course I will add to and change a few things as the class and group progresses though out the weeks.

1. Presentation: The presentation is meant to provide the class with an understanding of the pros and cons of your proposition. It should include: 1) an introduction which provides background information about the proposition; 2) how the proposition would affect government, business and society if passed; 3) arguments supporting both sides of the proposition; and 4) who are the major supporters and opponents of the issue.
2. Time: Each group presentation should be between 15-25 minutes. Students may include class participation exercises, power points, movie clips etc… whatever they wish in order to make the presentation interesting and effective.  There will be at least two questions on Midterm II based on each presentation.
3. Grading: Grades will be based on: a) The outline – was it turned in on time, did it show a clear logical progression of the issue; b) overall effectiveness of the presentation – was it interesting and informative; c) bibliography – did it use adequate citations from balanced sources; d) points from the peer evaluation; and e) quality of the test questions.
