The project I engaged in was the provision of services to students, faculty, and staff of the university by providing volunteer services to help complete fire systems inspection to determine their integrity. The project also encompasses the education of the community and my fellow students on the importance of understanding the essence of fire security systems in various buildings. Asset management is also an element of the project as I try to evaluate the integration of fire systems and management into different residential buildings.

The project was implemented initially through the drafting of a work plan and schedule that I have followed dutifully. The initiation stage of the project was where identified as the significant areas that were at risk of fire systems breach and also a majority of buildings in the school. I also got approval for the project from my professor and other relevant officials, which after I then began to participate in various fire system inspections and evaluating the protocols that were in place. Through the help of fires systems or experts, I was also able to establish the importance of fire systems and educate a majority of the tart population on the same.

The project was majorly a success in that I have understood the significant protocols surrounding fire systems, and I have been able to establish the importance and integrity of the systems. The project also managed to provide me with the chance to educate the public on the importance of fires systems. However, the project could have been executed more effectively with the integration of a more public education-related approach or a follow-up project on the same.

The experience through this project has allowed me to employ the five practices of exemplary leadership. I was able to model a way for the community and students and inspire the vision of better fire systems on their importance. I have also challenged the process through the suggestion made in this project on the same. My mission was also to propagate and build the need in others to act on the same and ensure that fires safety measures are well placed and followed. My project has inspired students and the community at large to seek better fire systems regulations and created an awareness of the same.

The experience has also connected to the 7cs of social change through the cs of citizenship, where I have become responsibly connected to the community and society. Through commitment, I have also been able to see my project through to the final stage. Additionally, through collaboration, I have been working with the inspectors and the member of residential buildings during my service hours to inspect gore systems. The experience affirmed the theories learned in class readings through skills such as collaboration. Additionally, on the concept of asset management, I have been able to understand the importance of fire system integration in asset management portfolios.

My learning objectives were accomplished as I was able to fully understand the role of my readings in the project application. I was able to understand how fire system work and then establish their importance in asset management. Additionally, I have also been able to understand the importance of fire systems in the university. My definition of leadership  was the ability to organize people towards a common goal, however after this particular project, I have adjusted that definition to the knowledge and courage to inspire people towards a common goal through the creation of vision, challenging an essential aspect of their lives and equipping them with the skills to do better. Social change is any alteration in the cultural, structural, population, or ecological characteristics of social systems to bring benefit on awareness on a particular issue. My service-learning work adjusted the beliefs on fire systemin the current setting in school and the immunity; nobody ever pays so much attention to fire systems and their integrity, and this project had enabled me to inform fellow students and the community on the importance of sound fire systems. The goal of the project was to complete fire systems inspection as a service to the university. The project has achieved this through social change. This project is essential as it enables me to be more appreciative of the role of fire systems in various settings that I find myself in. Nobody ever pays attention to these systems unless there is a fire or something close to that. Additionally, I am now able to impart knowledge on fire systems to the community. Overall, my service-learning has been integral in developing a more sensitive individual to the need for the community at large.

Monday7.00 a.m-8:30 a.m.Today we inspected the library building fire system with MR L, one of the tasks of the day was to test the fire sensors by spraying aerosols to each of the sensors to determine the continued functioning of the liquid particle sensors.
Tuesday5.00 p.m. -6.30 p.m.Today we inspected the administration building fire systems mostly smoke alarms that are located in the records room where there is a high risk of a fire. Some alarms and fire alarms were operating efficiently.
Wednesday2.00 pm-4.00pmToday I joined MR l and some of his compatriots in a community outreach program that involved students in teaching various community members on how to inspect fire systems and ensure that they are always working.

 

Thursday5.00pm-7.00pmAfter school, I joined Mr. l in the inspection of building C. The tasks were mainly aimed at looking at the digitizers and installing extra systems in place to avert any damage. There had been reports of smoke alarms, and thus it was important to make sure that no permanent damage occurred

 

Friday10.00 am-12.00amToday I joined Mr. L in his working station, where he explained to me various protocols on fire safety, and he explained his experiences with various fire breach situations. This was integral for me to get a practical understanding of the use of the systems and the protocols that the university has in place in case of a fire. Additionally, Mr. L also gave me a detailed outline of the University security systems and explained to me how they try to maintain the whole system up and running which is not a very recognized role in the university

One of the tasks of the day was to test the fire sensors by spraying aerosols to each of the sensors to determine the continued functioning of the liquid particle sensors.
