Psychological Artifact on Sleep

God created day and night so that people can work during the day and rest/sleep at night so that they can refresh to carry on with tomorrow’s activities. However, recently many people are experiencing sleeping difficulties, which in return affects their productivity. Hence, understanding the psychology behind sleep is essential since it can help fix the problem. This paper seeks to examine an artifact magazine that relates to the human brain concerning sleep.

The Zoë Heller’s magazine 2018 in the discussion is of great interest since it reveals several theories behind sleep in-depth but more understandable way. Besides, psychology is the study of the human mind and its function, which links it well with the magazine as it discusses the psychological effect on sleep, such as how an individual can prepare for adequate sleep. According to the magazine, mindset can enhance sufficient or insufficient sleep where a person experiences sleep loss at any time during the night. On that note, some people take a prolonged time to fall asleep despite getting into bed early, yet they are of good health, which is mostly caused by psychological preparedness. According to Konnikova (2015), some people use medicines to boost the level of sleepiness, which Heller (2018) on his magazine reveals that such medication has little effect of about 30 minutes additional time to normal sleep. That is a clear indication that what matters most is psychological preparedness. Notably, getting enough sleep is crucial because it allows the body and, more importantly, the brain to rest and increase the following day’s productivity. More so, enough sleep is useful in managing stress and also minimizes the chances of heart diseases. Therefore, the psychological study of sleep is vital in human health and life in general.
