Let’s get right into it.
VSYSTO Dash Cam Overview
The VSYSTO dash cam is a dual camera system that’s designed for motorcycles. Built to simplify the use of cameras while riding, this device allows you to record high resolution videos of your ride from two viewpoints.
With standout features like the 170-degree wide-angle, 7-layer glass lens, supercapacitor, smart power module, and the IP67 waterproof standard, this device is quickly becoming a favorite among numerous riders worldwide.
But how does it look like?
Unboxing
The VSYSTO Dash Cam is absolutely gorgeous.
The package comes with two cameras, a 3” LCD screen, an optical GPS tracker, a wired remote, and other accessories.
The first thing you’ll notice with the contents is that they are all made of steel. You can rest easy knowing that they can survive a crash.
The cameras come in a smooth all-black design that will look amazing on any bike. Attaching the two cameras to the bike is pretty straightforward. Install the front camera under the forks and the rear one on the fender above the license plate.
You can place the 3″ controller under the seat, or attach it to the handlebars. When trying to connect the 3″ LCD screen to the handlebars, I noticed that the mounting joint was a bit loose and shaky and opted to install the controller under the seat.
Other than the weak mount hinge, everything else is spectacular; the cabling is stronger and thicker with nice metal connections (not just push together plastic).
Let’s wire it up
The Set-Up
Setting up the two-channel camera system is pretty straightforward.
Once you’ve set up the front and rear camera, lift the seat and attach the smart power cable to the motorcycle battery. This way, the system automatically switches on when you turn on the ignition.
From here, connect the wired controller and cameras to the main controller (The cables are color-coded, making it super easy). You can use electrical tape to secure the set-up and make it waterproof.
If you’re afraid of connecting the controller to your bike’s battery, you can connect it to an external power bank (I use a power bank so I can monitor what happens to my bike when parked).
Video Quality
The VSYSTO motorcycle dash cam is one of the best dash cameras in the market. You will love the video and image quality
Both the front and rear cameras come with a 7-layer glass lens and the super-advanced SONY IMX323 image sensor making your videos crystal clear.
The fish eye design of the lenses makes sure that details of items near the side are not blurry. With a video quality of 1080p, you can be sure that you’ll capture every aspect of your ride.
And that’s not the best part
The wide-angle cameras each record 170 degrees. Fifteen degrees more than its competitor.
And that’s not all.
I tested the cameras in pitch-black darkness, and the video quality was unparalleled. Both cameras come with night vision and capture impeccable details even at night
How Did the VSYSTO Motorcycle Dash Cam fare in Different Conditions?
One of the best features of the VSYSTO dash cam is its all-round weatherproof design.
You can drive in any weather with the confidence that your camera won’t stop recording. No more worrying about the rain, snow or excess heat interfering with your device’s functionality
Rated as IP67 weatherproof device, this dash cam is one of the best waterproof motorcycle cameras in the market
The steel body acts as an extra layer of protection against heat. You can enjoy a bike ride in the hot summer sun, the rain or snow without worrying about your cameras getting damaged.
But What About Battery Life?
As if the superb video quality and weatherproof design were not enough, the VSYSTO dash cam comes with another innovative feature inform of its battery.
Rather than the standard Lithium battery, this motorcycle camera is equipped with a supercapacitor. As opposed to the standard battery, a supercapacitor has zero risks of exploding and offers more extended life.
Is the VSYSTO Motorcycle Dash Compatible with my Smartphone?
Yes.
The built-in Wi-Fi feature allows you to connect the dash cam to your smartphone using the app. With this feature, you can use your smartphone to record in real-time.
This dash cam supports both Android and iOs, which was a relief to me since most of the other motorcycle dash cams didn’t support iOs.
How about Audio Quality?
This was the biggest downfall with this dash cam. Despite the high video quality, the audio quality wasn’t the best; I couldn’t even hear the exhaust from my bike.
I decided to switch off the audio and work with only the video recording.
How many Videos Can I Record?
Fitted with a 128GB TF card, the VSYSTO dash camera can record up to 12 hours of footage before it starts rewriting itself.
Rather than stopping recording, the dash cam will rewrite old footage with new footage.
To avoid losing footage, transfer videos to your computer or turn off the loop recording to stop the camera from recording once the TF card is full.
What Else Do I Need to Know Before Buying the VSYSTO Motorcycle Camera?
For starters, this dash cam comes with a smart power module that automatically detects when the bike is on or off, allowing the camera to turn itself on and off.
The VSYSTO dash cam is also equipped with the G- sensor system, which detects an impending collision and activates emergency recording.
You can also set up GPS to work together with your camera. When rewatching your videos, you’ll be able to see them with exact coordinates. This feature allows you to keep track of places you’ve visited.
Pros
- Takes minimum effort to install
- Top-notch video quality even at night
- Built-in Wi-Fi
- Utilizes the power of a supercapacitor
- Weather-resistant
Cons
- Poor audio quality
- The mobile app is a glitchy (it works when it feels like)
Verdict
Other than the loose screen mount and the poor sound quality, the VSYSTO motorcycle dash cam is a superb riding record camera. It’s your guardian angel, eye witness, and digital collector of your riding memories.
