  • Review and critique the effectiveness of the application of the PLC in the project using appropriate models, concepts, and theories. P4

For the effective application of the PLC in the project, the Critical Path Analysis (CPA) model will be used. The Critical Path Analysis is done when the project activities are entered into a network diagram as sown in Doc. 4. The critical path shows the events displayed in red. Whenever the activities take longer than expected, project tie is lengthened, and its completion slowed down. The Critical Path Analysis helps the managers identify issues and strategies that can be employed to get the project done, as well as in monitoring thegoals achieved.

Activities of the project will be represented using a network of diagrams.  The PLC will also use Gnatt Chart to ensure controlled documentation of the completed and on-going projects by the staff members. This includes designing, tracking, control techniques, and updated budget documents. Daily reports will also be developed to ensure that the latest project development can be easily accessed. The leadership will also be expecting an abdication of the complete project for the full control of the functioning scheme. They will rely on the managers of the project to successfully control close-out procedures and give the full project to them in the first few weeks of trading.

Stage 1: Initiation Phase

The organization will come up with the rationale, vision, mission, and the purpose of the suggested venture during the initiation phase. The project scope, its use, and objectives, as well as its deliverables, will also be done during this phase. Prospective challenges will also be identified and evaluated if the aimed targeted expansion will resolve the current issues.

Challenges that may occur and hinder the project will be identified and deliberate on whether the aimed targeted expansion will resolve the current issue. The team spearheading the project is selected in this stage and will organize a meeting together with the sponsors of the project to deliberate and begin working on the set goals and confirm there are some critical issues that have been left out. In this stage, the preparation of the business case is crucial as it will be used to seek investors for the project. Therefore, it will be circulated to potential investors.

Stage 2: Planning Phase

The project plan is a document containing a summary of the overview of the project highlighting all the critical details. This will help in integrating information through the project management knowledge areas.  The project plan is believed to be finalized if the comprehensive organization of the work breakdown structure has been agreed upon and developed. Before coming up with the work breakdown structure, it requires multiple meetings for the team to agree on different characteristics of the project that is; period, cost, and quality, and the management team to agree. The sponsors Paul and Penny, who are still the final possessors, will agree on the quality and cost. The structure of work breakdown is the beginning of a financial agreement amid the manager of the project, and Paul and Penny the sponsors. Construction work should not start unless the project plan has been signed, and a decision on the work breakdown structure has happened between Paul & Penny and the manager of the project. The set goals of the project stated down in the form of a hierarchical structure in the work breakdown structure so that an action that is taken is linked to project goals to allow for efficiency. The project plan and the structure of the work breakdown are in the appendix in Doc 2 and Doc 3.

Stage 3: Execution Phase

In this phase, the real work of the stated project is performed. In this phase, the resources, materials, and tools are all altered to realize the objectives and goals specific to the indicated project. The project manager will ensure the tracing to the accomplishment of the work breakdown structure with the use of the Gantt chart and Network Diagram applying the necessary software.  The two are used to confirm if there is the proper usage of organizational resources, and there are no deviations; concerning the time taken, sequence, and the cost to be incurred. The actual incurred loss and time spend, are recorded on the software following an automatic update of the subsequent jobs.

Stage 4:  Project Closure

This is the last phase in the PLC, and it happens in the project completion stages, and there is nothing much to be done. The completed leisure Centre must be ready for handing over at this stage. In this stage, activities involved are; giving personnel and tools to different tasks and giving the resources that were being used to the legal owner. Further, the transfer of the project to the legal user is also performed containing all the warranties and certifications. Sponsors then make the last payment to the project manager, and the project is complete.
