Risk in A Rural Clinic

Rural clinics may not have the best technological resources. Therefore, when new computers are bought to update the system, several challenges can face the hospital. For example, the institution may lack enough individuals with the know-how to operate the computers. Many individuals in rural areas may lack enough knowledge to work with computers; thus, the clinic may be required to employ staff who have vast experience with computers (Van de Vreede, de Clifford & McGrath, 2018). Hiring new individuals is mandatory if new computers are brought on board. The clinic will have to hire a significant number of people to work with computers. This automatically has economic replications on the hospital (Katsikides, 2018). The hospital will spend more on hiring new individuals as well as conducting training on the use of computers. Training will have to be done so that new and existing employees are equipped with information on how to use computers and the systems that come with computers.

To manage the risk, the hospital can seek funding that will cater for the expenses that the new crew (Chang, 2018). Alternatively, the hospital can train their current employees and avoid hiring many new employees. This way, the hospital will spend fewer resources. Ideally, technological advancement is the right thing to do as it would offer many benefits to the hospital. For instance, record-keeping would be improved; thus, patients would benefit more (Bachynski, 2016). However, the hospital has to bear the risks that computers come with. The hospital would spend more in the long run, but patient outcomes would be improved, and patients would receive better services.
