Roman Catholicism

Roman Catholicism is quite different from the “holy catholic church,” as referred to by the Apostle’s creed. Roman Catholic argues that it is the holy Catholic Church, but in my opinion, it is not. It is neither the Jesus Christ’s church nor the Catholic Church it claims to be. Catholic is a word that means “universal,” and it describes Christ’s true church. Many passages in the Bible describe the Catholic Church. In Revelation 7:9, for example, it talks about a multitude of uncountable people from all countries and tongue all standing before the throne. Catholicity believes in the equality of both men and women in Christ Jesus because all people are Abraham’s children (Genesis 15:5). The Bible warns in multiple phases against discrimination of any type or one race, ethnicity, or language, thinking that it is better than the others. Catholicity assures Christians from all over the world that they will live with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of heaven (Matt. 8:11). Catholicity means that people, regardless of their social and economic status, age, or gender, are welcome into the Catholic Church.

Roman Catholicism is led by a few influential people who cannot be reached by ordinary people. These people are wealthy and hold a high social status. The congregation comprises impoverished people, some of who cannot meet their basic needs, and these are the same people who are the source of the wealth of the powerful elites in the church’s leadership. Catholicity condemns such practices because, in the Kingdom of God, there is neither the rich, not the poor. All people are equal in the eyes of God. Catholicism is opposed to any form of religious individualism because Catholic religion should not be a church for a few elite or a group of saints who do holy that they cannot interact with the members (Dulles 82). I agree with Dulles that Catholicism includes apostolicity, unity, and holiness, but I disagree that they have the same faith. They are entirely different in all ways.

Dulles has every right to feel that Catholicity is un-dogmatic, tolerant, and open-minded. Jesus interacted with the sinners and the righteous, but he never said that the Kingdom of God was for the righteous alone. Therefore, he was open-minded. Anybody would have access to him. He set an excellent example of how leaders should be. However, meeting the pope is entirely impossible. Whenever the pope is visiting countries, multitudes of people spend days outside to have his view. He is accorded more respect than Presidents. I agree with Dulles that Catholicism is intolerant, close spirited, and dogmatic. They are nowhere near to what Jesus taught about his disciples.

In my opinion, I disagree with the bishops that the church is a message of salvation today. Catholic Christians are concerned with their problems and those of their close relative but not those of the poor. People do not interact, and therefore it is even hard to identify the needy in the church. All offering go to the clergy, and he cannot share with the poor. The Catholic Church members are burdened with donations for church projects to have money to share with the poor.

I agree with Councilmatic bishops that Christians believe that God created this world, and His love alone sustains it. It is true that although Jesus Christ was crucified to free the world, people have fallen into sin. When the human person is saved, then he will be able to resist sin, and when the human society is renewed, people will become more social, loving each other, and there will not be any sin. Then the souls will be saved. But if the soul is saved, the human person will tempt it to sin. I disagree with the bishop that the church is not motivated by worldly ambition. People are busy building wealth and making money.

I agree that the church should be a guide to people like it was before in its early years. However, it can take many years for the church to become trustworthy. There are cases of rape by the clergy every day, and most of the corrupt people are Christians. The young people who need guidance would instead turn to their relative than to the church.

Finally, I think there is a significant difference between Catholicism and Catholicity. Catholicism does not represent the church Christ said he would come to take. It is represented by Catholicity, which is about individual relationships with God. It is also about the equality of all people. The church has not positioned itself to a level of being trusted. Cases of clergy defiling minors are on the increase. Additionally, most of the corrupt people are Catholic Christians.
