Terms of Service
The renewal of the contract or lack thereof is at the discretion of the hospital human resource department. The nurse practitioner will work as an emergency room practitioner at the hospital. The working hours are as stipulated in the shift schedule, which will be made available by the department supervisor. However, it is essential to note that the hours will be prolonged in the case of increased emergency care patients. A combination of working hours may also be deemed necessary to meet patient needs. The hospital reserves the right to change working hours from time to time in line with the workload. In the case of contract termination by either party, prior notice should be given. Rules and Regulations
All laws and ethical principles are to be followed during the term of practice. Patient privacy shall be adhered to, and information only shared through the correct channels and authorization. The nursing practitioner shall report to work on time and without fail. In the case of absenteeism, the nurse is expected to give prior notice to the immediate supervisor. It is to ensure that the necessary fill-in is done by allocating shift duties to another nurse. The nursing practitioner is also expected to fulfill practice requirements in line with the state requirements. It includes but is not limited to licensure. A separate agreement document (nurse-physician agreement) should be signed if the nurse is working under the supervision of a physician (“ARNP Protocol”, n.d.). Hospital procedures and protocols are to be followed at all times. The nurse is expected to seek clarity and information on any issue that is unclear from the relevant supervisor.
Grievance and Disciplinary Procedure
For any grievances such as but not limited to workplace harassment, the nurse should follow the instituted communication protocol. The necessary disciplinary measures shall be instituted in case of negligence. It may include suspension and the automatic cancellation of the contract. Misuse of medication through unauthorized use of drugs is prohibited and will equally lead to disciplinary measures.
Duties and Responsibilities
The nurse is expected to fulfill all duties and responsibilities in line with the outlined scope of practice. The nursing practitioner will provide emergency room services under the general supervision of a physician. The nurse shall conduct emergency room protocol that includes but is not limited to ordering scans. Administering medication, prescribing pain medication, reporting patient results to the physician, offering assistance to physicians during surgical procedures, and treatment of patients who require emergency treatment. The nurse is also expected to monitor the health progress of emergency room patients and report any changes to the physician.
Confidentiality
The nurse is expected to uphold confidence during and after the contract period. It thus means that the nurse shall not divulge patient and sensitive hospital information to a third party. Sharing of information such as passwords is not allowed. A breach of the hospital or patient information will lead to disciplinary measures being carried out. In case of termination, the nurse shall return all property belonging to the facility in good condition, including all hospital records.
