Saudi Arabia consulate general in Los Angeles

            This agency serves a link between the two kingdoms in order to provide their citizens with the best services. Over years the consulate has served to strengthen bilateral relationships among countries. It also intends to improve political economic social and cultural ties between nations. The consulate has received a major achievement in creating a strong collaboration between the two kingdoms that is often based on mutual respect and non-interference of the internal affairs and parity conditions. Basically, the two embassies have worked tirelessly to preserve and promote mutual foreign policy interests. This is done in order to consolidate a process of continued collaboration and harmony between the two nations. This is done to improve cooperation order and maintain peace across the world. The initial directory of foreign affairs was established in 1926 by the Saudi Arabian King, Ibn Saud. This saw an improvement to the ministry status in four years’ time increasing its staff to fifteen employees but having no single diplomatic missions abroad. It later on advanced its missions to the United Kingdom Geneva and Cairo in the year 1936. Up to date, the Saudi Arabian kingdom has created an extensive diplomatic progress across the world.

Department/ unit of work

            The consulate general has several departments that include visa applications and issuance, transport and travel as well as security and safety. In my field of study, the major area of specialization is the safety and security departments. This department urges all the citizens to consider careful travel to the Saudi Arabian kingdom. ISIL has continued to pose threats that have encouraged individual acts of terrorism in the kingdom. The subsequent and multiple attacks from ISIL have resulted to a significant loss of lives. This has increased the consulates involvement in trying to curb this problem with several restrictions in movement. The Saudi Arabia consulate addresses the issue of crime in terms of ensuring safe surroundings, conserving standards of conduct that might lead to an assault or a harassment to a person. Issues of domestic violence and addressing victims of crime are well analyzed by the consulate general with victims receiving the necessary support and care.

Training process, goals and objectives

            The internship program requires that all students undergo a practical experience with relevant organizations. In the consulate general agency in LosAngeles, student orientation is efficient with all the interns’ collaboration with supervisors and other stakeholders. Over time I have known the organizations structure as explained and stipulated by the organizations set up. Working with the Saudi Arabia consulate general, the following objectives have been realized:

Collaborating with team members to advancing the operations of the consulate

Working together with other organizations workers to improving the organizations achievements.

            As an intern in the Saudi Arabia consulate general, several duties and responsibilities have been assigned to me and that serve as guidelines to the daily activities in the organization. Reporting to the supervisor on daily activities, formulating new security communication ideas and communication to the citizens of any changes in the security measures are the main duties as intern in the safety and security departments. So far, the supervisor has visited the work area and shared ideas, evaluated my progress as an intern and detailed the progress. The supervisor has also been able to provide necessary information required to reach interns from the organization management.

Challenges

            The major challenge working with the Saudi Arabia consulate general is in terms of security. The fact that there are different races, they have involved in many disputes and terror attacks.  The attacks which have been happening in many parts of the country has left many live of people lost which have been a main challenge in the region.

Applicable courses within the organization

            Working with the consulate has made it possible to integrate several courses of study to the internship programs. Such courses include transport and travel courses that guide on driver instructions and all the measures that are related to road transports such as road conditions and safety. Local laws and special circumstances has also turned to be an applicable course in the area of study. The organization also requires that health issues be in cooperated with the study programs making the course applicable.

Future internship projects, external meetings and networking

            Some internship projects are yet to be completed such as the final report writing and networking with external organizations that seek to achieve similar objectives as those of the Saudi Arabia consulate. In the near future, the organization seeks to create links for all interns to meet external stakeholders and other organizations staff so as to share learning experiences. In the second half of the internship programs a networking platform will be created so as to aid the interns to interact with the management and others.Self-evaluation on the first half of the internship program reveals a complete learning satisfaction with sufficient knowledge reaching all interns in various departments.
