Do you ever think of what you stand for? What do others perceive of you even when you don’t say it with your mouth?

How others perceive you is dependent on several factors. And those factors are what form the basis of your personalities, values, purpose, and passion.
Self-expression is often misinterpreted due to varying contexts. In art, it’s an act of declaring one’s thoughts and feelings through words, symbols, or both.
In line with these, a movement called It’sYourPoint was born.

What’s Your Point – How To Make A Point
Think of what puts you in your happy place. Do you want others to know about it? It’sYourPoint advocates for precisely that. Making a point sometimes misses the point. Think about it. You may have a specific message you need to pass across, but the means you are using aren’t as effective as they should be.
For instance, let’s say you are passionate about art, and you want to pursue it as a career. Your parents and your peers think that it’s a bad idea, but deep down, you believe that you can make it work. Letting that barrier block you might lead you to situations like fear, which might eventually gravitate to depression. But you do not want that.
Being yourself is the best way to live with yourself and others around you. By so doing, we will be surrounded by like-minded people whom we share a purpose with. In fact, the law of attraction stipulates that we attract what we focus on.
Power of Words and Affirmations
If you look at etymology or historical study of words, you will realize that words were used in many ways across multiple aspects of life. You have probably heard the phrase, “words are powerful – they can make or break.” That statement holds. Whatever you read or hear, influences the next stream of thought in your mind. In a way, words control human perception.
When expressed correctly, they can portray what is intended entirely. As a matter of fact, one word is enough to represent a whole point. This argument is because as much as you want to express yourself, you don’t owe anyone an explanation for whatever you chose to be or do.
The One Word Point
Some job interviewers will often ask you to tell them who you are using one word. That could seem hard at first instant, but it’s not. See, words are profound in meaning. A single word can stand for a whole essay paragraph; take the word ‘free’ for example. There are literary a thousand implications that can be lifted from this word.
However, since the word is like your brand, what you do will be summarized by it. It is the power of a word.
In his book, In The Name of Identity, Amin Maalouf speaks about how words that seem the clearest are often the most treacherous. It’s the same case here; words are easily misinterpreted when the self is not portrayed.
The Visual Aspect of Self-Expression
It’s a lot harder to forget what we see and certainly a lot easier to associate with visual representations. For me, whenever I see a beautiful bird, I instantly think of the sweet melodies that they make early in the morning. The point I am trying to put across is seeing is much better than hearing.
More so, color plays a crucial role in the visual articulation of phenomena. Meaning different colors will strike different impressions. That is why It’sYourPoint movement chose to go with neutral colors; that’s black and white for their creations and merchandise.
In Pursuit of Liberation
One of the main reason this movement was started is to give the voiceless a voice. You that feel like they don’t have a place. Simply put, to help you unapologetically express what you think to the world. It gives you the power to summarize your point into one word and put a dot at the end and carry it with you everywhere. This lifestyle gives you the ability to be in control of your emotions, what people say what you stand for. After all, it’s your point.
