Sightseeing in Cairo
Cairo is one of Africa’s most developed cities, and yet it is one with the richest history with various historic sites and antiquities. If you are planning to go to Cairo, here are some of the places you should visit for sightseeing;
The Pyramids of Giza
These are three pyramids; Giza (Khufu), Khafre, and Menkaure, located on the Giza plateau, were used as burial sites for the kings and the royal families in ancient times.
The largest amongst them is the Pyramid of Giza at whose foot you will find the Solar Boat Museum. This museum is unique as it holds the Khufu Ship, used by the kings in ancient times. The ship was sealed at the foot of the Pyramid of Giza for use in the afterlife.
These mortuary temples are guarded by two great ancient monuments; one of a lion, and the other of a Pharaoh.
The pyramids are quite a sight!
The Manial Palace
The Manial Palace in Cairo gives you firsthand experience in the life of Egyptian royalty during their dynasty. There is a wide variety of art collections inside the palace, and on the outside, you will find a Nature Park and Museum.
