Significance of Primary Sources Comparison:” Slavery & Abolitionist”

Introduction.

The use of primary sources today has become one of the most popular topics for learners, the social studies instructors. The instructors have identified a positive impact on the use of the primary sources in the Curriculum and the learners. In the case of the student they have, they can capture the ancient happenings come alive through primary sources. Primary sources up to today are seen becoming easier and easier as the technological sources continue to grow. The aim of this paper will be giving an analysis of slavery and Abolitions, which was written in the middle of the 19th century in America. This primary source mainly contains historical information about the life the first African people were welcomed and treated in America. It gives more explanations concerning the controversy of whether it’s was rightful for the Americans to abuse the colleague’s human beings due to color differences.

The writing of the source came from two know authors known as Francis and Taylor, who were both Americans (Harrold & Stanley pg. 36). This journal was established during the rejection and opposition time when the whites rejected the black people from entering their country since they thought they would come and take their natural resources.  The writing happened during the opposition of slavery, which took place in two different periods where one was referred to as the antislavery movements in the 1830s, and the other one referred to as the abolitionist’s period which took place from 1830s and proceeded towards the end of the civil war in America.

The author of these sources was the men and the real supports of the minority society. They are the liberators of the suffering society, which were the blacks. The abolitionist in the US, for example, had a very big impact on country politics and even in the society itself (Matthews & Gelien pg. 25). They fought for equality towards all Americans irrespective of the color or issues to do with social-economic status. The author comes from the middle-class stage who can witness the suffering and the objection the African people are experiencing due to their characteristics of black color.

The creation of the movement came early in America when slavery had taken root. The blacks were the main subjects of slavery who were worked under the supervision of the white people, which was a sign of intimidating Africans to discourage them from migrating in their country. The audience of this movement was the whites who used mistreat the fellow human beings who were the blacks (Boster& Dea pg. 1860). The movement creation aimed to end the slavery actions in America where all people would enjoy the freedom of being American citizens. Slavery was the main thing that was taking place, and Africans suffered more since they were used as the main commodities in the slave trade activities.

The target audience in this primary source, which is the whites, would have brought a change in slavery. This would only happen if only they considered the calling from the abolition movements, which aimed to save the future of Americans by stopping slavery. The stoppage of slavery would give a room of more historical achievements concerning the liberation of African people and the start of pan Africanism which would bring all the African American people together thus helping them to fight for their rights as human beings and as the American citizens.

The main agenda the author has in this source is to express how the Africans were first treated by the whites due to their color. The whites’ superiority was the main author’s agenda. Despite themselves being human beings. They blinded themselves to interpret Africans as something different from human beings or something that never looked like them. His objective was to make the whites understand that Africans were human beings just like them, and they needed fair treatment (Smith & John David pg. 1953). There is no business in the author’s message since whatever is written contains what was exactly happening in America, including how they lived a miserable life under the supervision of the white people. The writer mentions everything that African experienced during that time.

The historical growth of America came after the stoppage of slavery. This is because all the citizens are fairly treated and given opportunities to [participate in decision making. The main significance of this primary source is to educate the learner more, especially those who research the beginning of American growth. They can study the historical events which took place, slavery being one of them, and the developed strategy to make all American feel equally presented regardless of their ethnical background or even the skin color. The primary sources give a deeper understanding of ancient events.
