similarity between the current immigration situation in the United States with that of Mexico and Early Anglo Settlers of Texas

Introduction

The issue of immigration especially illegal immigration has become one of the major issues in the United States with the Trump administration insisting on the need to reduce the porosity of American borders. In the recent time, the administration introduced a zero-tolerance policy regarding all the asylum seekers who enter the United States in the southern border without the visa. The move by the administration sparked different emotion and opinion, and it has been among the most discussed issues of the recent times on matters of immigration. Despite the accrued fight against illegal immigration by the government, it is evident that the trend has started to rise again after experiencing a gradual fall since President Trump came into office in 2017. This trend shows that there is a need for the country to review its policy for them to be in line with the anticipation of the government. The variation in immigration trend can be linked to the same notion that the United States is an economic powerhouse with well-organized political and social problem thus it become a desirable destination for many people. Most of the immigrants originate from Mexico due to the porous nature of the southern border. The objective of this paper is to explore the similarity between the current immigration situation in the United States with that of Mexico and Early Anglo Settlers of Texas and the accrued lessons that can be learned for the finding and experience.

Immigration has occurred in most developed countries where America have been the primary destination for many migrants (Schuck & Peter 2018). The United States of America Is known to be the land where one is free, can flourish and make his dreams can come true. However, due to illegal immigration, President Donald Trump has focused on new immigration laws that are geared to cabbing these activities. United state government have politicized immigration policies targeting certain countries like Mexico among other African countries. Immigration laws should be lenient, fair and just for every legal immigrant that would feel to acquire citizen.

International immigration has been the main political issue today. Mainly, illegal immigration is termed as the main security threat for most developed countries. In line with Schuck and Peter (2018), there is increasing variation in homicide cases which can be inclined to various significant factors such as gun violence, illegal immigration, and elevated drug abuse, and trafficking among other factors. Following such variation, every nation tries to improve their border security to reduce illegal immigration. However, united states have publically announced war against illegal immigrants following the mess that has happened due to illegal immigration. America is an immigration built nation since its large number of its citizens are immigrants, for instance, the Settlement of Anglo-American in Texas was also as a result of immigration where the Spanish government supported them. As a result, immigration is an important political issue since the government is the key player in facilitating and enhancing, and ensures that there is substitutive allegation to bring new immigration laws.

Early Anglo-American settlers of Texas were encouraged by the Spanish government between 1821 and 1835. Spain first opened Texas in 1820 to Anglo-American which was less a year before Mexican attained their independence. Notably, they had traditional policies that forbidden foreigners into their territories and more so, Spain was unable to persuade its citizens to migrate to remote and less populated Texas. Wiecekt and William (2018) the mission were closed while that near latter two as it was expected to be nucleus community, it was transferred from Franciscan to diocesan. As such, this was established to readily colonize the Anglo-American as it was not new recruiting foreigners to possess the Spanish frontier. In reward of land to settle, they were supposed to be industrious, Catholics and willing to be Spanish.

Following the new immigration rules in America, trump administration like the Spanish in Texas tries to stop Mexican from migrating to the United States for not complying with their term. As such, this is to ensure the Mexican do not illegally migrate, and their population is reduced in the United States. Contrary to their migration law of giving opportunities to any credible person a chance to be an American citizen, Mexican have been isolated to this deal due to their migration habit. They have immigrated and transited to several countries causing homicide, and the government has decided to politically fight against Mexico illegal immigration by further building a border. Therefore, there should be strict policies to ensure migration is conducted according to the documented procedure.

The new settlers were expected to raise economic development and aid in preventing the aggressive and walking plain Indians such as Kiowas and Comanches. After Mexican got their independence, they continued with the Spanish colonization plan by giving empresarios a contract of settling and supervising qualified and selected immigrants. Wiecekt and William (2018) Unexpansive land was the main attraction of the Anglo-American in Hispanic Texas. The land was cheap compared to land in the United States giving them merit to settle with their families and carry out farming in the large size of lands. Despite being colonized and demanded to follow the Spanish rules, they acquired land and increased economic state.

Mostly, immigrants help in economic development by raising revenue income to the nation they migrate. Notably, people migrate in search of a better life and to increase financial opportunities. Therefore the migrants contribute to economic growth by working and promoting government programs and revenue collection. However, illegal immigrants are not part of government planning which led to the interference of the scheduled programs. (Griswold and Daniel (2018) every government conduct census to establish a population of the people. This help in planning projects to ensure people get government services accordingly. Having extra population brings inconveniences and therefore unable to serve its citizen with the required metrics.

Currently, U.S- Mexico border is among the expensive project United States government have established. The border was allocated a lot of money and resources in the aim of securing against illegal immigration. The government wants every undocumented migration to cease to enhance better planning and provide its citizens a safe nation. Just like the Spanish ensured the Mexican inhibit a sparsely populated Texas that they could manage and carry out development without overcrowding and overpopulation. The Therefore, there is an excellent relationship between the current situation as to that in the Anglo settlers to Texas as they all seek for a manageable space to migrate and have more opportunities for a better life.

Apart from cheap affordable and available land to settle in Texas, Anglo-American had other attractions. Wiecekt and William (2018) they thought the United States would purchase eastern Texas from the Mexican government. They also believed that Mexico and the United States had a reciprocal agreement which could allow creditors to collect debts or to return escapee. Therefore as the United States considered as a place with safety and opportunity, Texas was also a haven for many farmers. Notably, every man seeks a better life to avoid financial struggles and acquire safety and health. Such is evident in the Texas settlers and the current immigration situations.

Notably, a human being should have Freedom of speech and the right to choose religion. However, (Corrigan, John, and Winthrop Hudson, 2018) Immigrants were forced to be Catholics by the Spanish. They were to abide by this requirement for them to be granted land.  Similarly, the United States government have termed Muslim countries as the most insecure immigrants. In my view, that is religious discrimination in the implementation of immigration laws. The fact that one is in a particular religion does not guarantee general identity. Immigration policies should be away from any discrimination despite ones believe and religion as long the person is credible and qualified for that opportunity. (Griswold and Daniel (2018) A person should immigrate and continue with the religion they belong to and be given security as they conduct their rituals and other religious ceremonies.

Colonialism has been happening over decades, and it has manifested itself in many forms through the Spanish in Texas. They took advantage of Texans for their need of land where instead of genuinely uplifting them, they used power to humiliate and colonize them. Immigrants should be treated with dignity instead of using them for personal gain. Governments have politically used the issue of immigration as a tool to attack other nation. According to the Texan and Mexican immigration, a nation with less power is subjected to colonialism for them to have their right. Due to less power and need of land and a better life, Texans were colonized.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there is a similarity between the current immigration situation in the United States with that of Mexico and Early Anglo Settlers of Texas. Generally, Immigration has been highly used as a political tool especially illegal immigration which has been an important political issue. The stipulated objectives of immigration policies are to ensure every credible and deserving person to immigrate gets the opportunity. Contrary, powerful government use them to discriminate with ethnicity, religion and colonize other nation. However, these rules are essential if implemented since they ensure secure and civilized nation.
