Single Mothers
Not only are women struggling to get by in their daily lives, but they are faced with multiple other problems that men do not encounter in their lives. According to the lecture, single mothers are blamed as being the main issue for poverty, crime, and multiple other problems. On top of this, single mothers often cannot find full-time jobs to help pull them out of poverty because they do need to raise their children. These women have minimum wage jobs to help them barely survive in their circumstances. This situation that these single mothers are in forces them to marry and settle for an abusive or disrespectful husband because they can benefit from their husband’s money. As mentioned in an article, many abusive partners limit their victim’s economic freedom, controlling checking accounts and garnishing paychecks, (Legal Momentum).

One type of precaution which needs to be applied to ensure that single mothers are not the targets for other problems caused by living in poverty is by taking time to know the people whom they are dating well. The time will be essential in enabling them to establish the actual behavior of the people whom they date. Through the process, they will manage to weed out people who are more likely to be abusive to them and expose them to various economic challenges. They will be more likely to find husbands who will love them and be more supportive of their activities (Kim, Wu, & Woodard, 2019). It is through the process that single mothers will attain the significant levels of growth they need. With time, they will manage to achieve significant degrees of freedom, which are essential in boosting their qualities of life. Also, single mothers need to be careful about sharing their financial information with their husbands as the situation might lead to them being curtailed from attaining the financial freedom they need.
A better option for single mothers to pull themselves out of poverty could entail engaging in passive investments like the purchase of stocks and bonds. They could also establish businesses through partnerships. These businesses will enable them to have some flexibility, which will be essential in ensuring that they also attend to their children (Kim, Wu, & Woodard, 2019). These mechanisms will be crucial in helping single mothers to be effective in building their financial capital while at the same time taking care of their children. The arrangement will, therefore, be essential in boosting the capacity of single mothers and, therefore, enable them to be outstanding in the society.
