Situation Awareness
Cyberspace is a continually evolving environment, the growth of cyberspace with new concepts and new technologies coming up each day. Cybersecurity is a vital field for every organization to focus on. Each day threats increase raging from malware, viruses, cyberbullying, and many more. For the cybersecurity experts to prevent attacks and apply the correct measures to counter attacks, knowledge of the attack is needed. In situation awareness, cyber users share their knowledge on some issues; hence, the fight against cyberattacks is possible (Ward, 2017).
Through situations, awareness organizations can understand what is going on in their environment and others too. The information attained through situation awareness can help the seconds and incident response teams understand the problem ailing them hence making sound decisions. The goal of situation awareness is to minimize human error and help in strengthening the line of defense. There are several concepts that are involved in situation awareness, which include incident reporting, threat intelligence, risk monitoring, and defense management. With these critical concepts included in the cybersecurity protocols through real-time sharing of incidences as they occur. Real-time sharing of information ensures that information concerning a threat or attack is available to the right person at the right time (Onwubiko, 2016).
The dynamicity of situation awareness is a great character that enables accessible communication in cyberspace. Every individual has a different approach to a situation which, when combined together, all situations can be easily handled.in an incidence of malware detection through situation awareness, other users may put the right measures to avoid further spread of the malware to attacks in their systems.
There is a need for improved cybersecurity in organizations and government institutions. The use of mobile phones in communication greatly facilitates the awareness required by each person involved in the cyberspace (Dobson, Shimeall & Carley, 2017). Awareness of the current events and means used by attackers in real-time can significantly improve cybersecurity.
