The social work profession encompasses the approaches that an individual takes regarding helping another person, groups, communities, and families to enhance their individual or collective well-being. A person gets trained to achieve success by alleviating the circumstances of individuals in a society experiencing social deprivation. Personally, the essential character is empathy, which is the ability to identify another person’s situation. It mainly stresses on intellectual and emotional strategies of identifying conditions of an individual. The other character that equips me for the profession is self-awareness, where it enables an individual to apply the strategies and approaches of social work in his or her own life. Having an outstanding character, such as proper organization, equips me on the profession, hence creates a platform for an appropriate understanding of social work in society. The first experience that I acquired through pursuing the profession is such as the growth of social life, solving crisis events, psychotherapy services, and maintenance of records.

The field of social work is about recognizing social injustices and working to eliminate barriers often faced by underrepresented populations. Describe your experiences with recognizing social injustice and how a graduate degree in social work can help equip you to eliminate these barriers.

Several approaches are relevant when it comes to identifying social injustice in society. The primary way is when a person gets denied an opportunity to make money or getting paid unfairly for the work done. Also, the inadequacy of living conditions that situates an individual to allow them to thrive and live to the fullest can be a determinant of social injustice. The other way of identifying social injustice is when an individual gets denied to carry out their religious practices in a different nation. The act of tormenting can get classified as social injustice, which is noticeable in this case. Violence also can get identified as a social injustice act in society. A graduate degree in social work can equip me with the skills and knowledge of how to determine an individual’s condition. The degree can also provide an improvement in knowing the ways of setting boundaries to limit the amount of work done in the society. The degree equips me with persuasive and cooperation traits, which are relevant in the field of social work.

The act of Diana R. Garland School of Social Work is a great opportunity that inspires and motivates me to view on the positive impacts of the profession in society. It is an essential aspect for alumni who are experts in social welfare to engage in family, people, and the community. It will enhance and improve the services of the field to society and get recognized as one of the most significant professions that need proper attention. The leadership skills that the alumni possess will improve the organization strategies computed when practicing social work in society. Baylor’s program is an influencing experience in social life as it opens a platform for practicing social work. It also inspires different individuals who get to know and understand the meaning of the profession in society.

Society issues are problems in life that influence several individuals within the society. The issues are barriers that individuals seek to find solutions whenever they experience them. The reasons that make societal issues deserve public actions and resources are such as, increase in domestic violence, problems with drug and substance abused, and corruption. The society contributes to the social issues through features such as the socioeconomic status of individuals in the society, social disorganization, public health status, society inequality such as gender, race, age and disability, and academic status of people within the community. It is possible for social workers to address societal issues and find strategies to solve them. The essential approach is to assess the individual’s strengths, needs, situations, and supportive network to determine their goals. In this case, the worker will develop strategies and respond to the issues to solve them positively. According to my experience, the leadership skills and role that I will portray is to analyze the social perceptiveness of individuals. The experience has helped me grow in terms of techniques for identifying the body language of people that I encounter. It has also enhanced my understanding of the necessary skills as a social worker.

The masters in social work admission committee need to consider the qualities that I possess in the profession. The aim I need to achieve in the application is to change lives of individuals across the country and create an understanding of those who are unaware of social work. It is a significant aspect that my application would help me provide more ideas and projects based on the profession to reach out to individuals who are limited to social freedom in this case. Mastering the profession is essential since I would be able to understand the social work values such as integrity, service, and human relation profoundly.

The knowledge about the Baylor MSW program was a common and unique aspect in the society that caught my interest. The sources that helped me to achieve the understanding of Baylor MSW program was through a social media platform. It was through my research and desire to know the key features and goals of the program since it is in line with the profession of my interest. Also, the other primary source of information regarding the program was through my colleagues. It also motivated me to go ahead with my research by hearing the positive sentiments regarding the program.
