1) Unit 6 – Summary
During this class, each of you was to look at strategic planning and management from your own individual perspective. Based on your knowledge, what are the biggest issues that are preventing your organization from engaging in strategic planning and strategic management?
Every organization that engages in business activities has its own strategy aimed at promoting the daily business activities, and my organization is no exception. Although Strategic planning is a prudent tool in every organization’s strategic management, depending on the organization, various issues prevent the implementation of this element. For my organization (Health Care Recruitment Agency), there are various issues that are keeping my organization at bay in regard to employing or rather engaging in both strategic planning and strategic management. Most notably, the issues that prevent my organizations from engaging in strategic planning are grouped into two factors, which are the internal and external factors. In regard to the internal factors, the main issues affecting my organization include; first is the lack of strong financial sources. The lack of financial sources limits the company to employ its strategic plans fully. Secondly, the lack of efficient communication in my organization also proves to be the main stumbling block in engaging the organization’s strategic plans. Lastly, the brand equity or the brand image of my organization also derails the engagement of strategic planning. On the external factors, there are two main obstacles. One is the idea of economic aspects. Unforeseen factors such as inflation and deflation in the economy affect my organization in terms of strategic planning and management. Moreover, the legal factors that govern the business environment in the US also impact negatively to my organization in terms of executing the organization’s strategic planning and management exercise.
2) Unit 6 – Implementation of Strategic Plan
We have discussed strategic planning and the process. Once the plan is developed, how is the strategic plan implemented? Provide action steps as well as possible performance measures that you will use.
According to (Unit 6 lecture notes), strategic plan implementation requires that in a bid to implement the strategic plan, operational plans need to be developed and be funded. However, just like any implementation plan, strategic plan implementation entails the following process. (Unit 6 lecture notes) illustrates that the first step to implementing the strategic plan is by starting the implementation plan early. The annual operating plans should be developed and communicated early. Secondly, the organization should allocate all the resources, both human and financial resources. Moreover, the third process is the idea of monitoring the process. (Unit 6 lecture notes) pinpoints that regular reports are needed on how operations are progressing towards attaining the set goals. The fourth process is updating and adjusting the plan. Depending on both the external and internal factors, the plan needs to be adjusted. The last step is to literally help all the employees to get into the plan in a bid to implement the plan early. However, the possible performance measures that I will use include a Balanced Scored to keep track of the execution progress as well as the use of dashboards to periodically report the progress.
3) Unit 6 – Mission Statement for Professional in Administrative Science
The mission describes what the organization does. What should the mission statement be for the Professional in Administrative Science? Is there a difference between the professional in Administrative Science and Mastering Strategic Management? Support your position.
Bryson (2011) explicitly explains that a mission is what an organization engages in or what it actually does, and more often than not, it tells the stakeholders the purpose of the organization. Further points out that a mission statement states the (why what and how) of an organization. The mission statement for a Professional in Administrative Science should state what the professional aims at achieving, such as the development of quality and efficient healthcare services; it should also state how a professional will achieve his objectives. For a professional in administrative science, for example, his mission statement should state how he can achieve an efficient health care system by establishing new diagnostic and therapeutic methods using the current innovative and technological tools.
Is there a difference between the professional in Administrative Science and Mastering Strategic Management? Support your position.
Yes
According to (Bangalan, 18) and( Professional Science Management), the professional in Administrative Science is often associated with coordination of various tasks, operational plans as well as communication in support of a science-related environment whereas Mastering Strategic Management encompasses the idea of enhancing students or employees’ innovative ways in a bid to meet one’s needs or organizational needs.
