structural analysis for a commercial or advertisement from TV or the web
Major Writing Project #2 For major Writing Project #2, you will provide a structural analysis for a commercial or advertisement from TV or the web. The advertisement needs to be less than 60 seconds in length, and you should consider all of the structural and stylistic aspects of the ad: visual, auditory (what we hear), specific words, and the narrative presented by the ad as well. This assignment meets most of the Student Learning Outcomes and Learning Objectives for the course, which are available for review. The purpose is to put rhetorical analysis into practice, and to produce a thoughtful high-stakes written essay about the speech you have chosen to study. Research: As with MWP #1, include at least two secondary sources that are either scholarly peer-reviewed articles, authoritative books on rhetoric or public speaking, or ″.org″ or ″.gov″ sources. Do not use any ″.com″ sources. Also, the course textbook may count as a 1 of your sources if used. [unique_solution]Cite your primary source (the speech under study) and all secondary sources. Length: 3-5 pages + a list of the works cited Citation style: MLA Grading: ″A″ paper – Work of superior quality. Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail. Attends not only to style concerns, but the substance of the piece is on-point as well. Thorough, clearly written, thoughtful, and highly engaging. No more than a few errors in grammar or style. ″B″ paper – Work of high quality. Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail, or close to it. Attends not only to style concerns, but the substance of the piece is on-point or thoughtful as well. Generally thorough, clear, thoughtful, and engaging. Some errors in grammar/style may be apparent, but not to inhibit readability. Errors are still few. ″C″ paper – Could result for a variety of reasons. Work generally meets minimum standards for the assignment, but does not exceed them. The piece generally does not indicate a high level of quality. May be lacking in some ways in style or substance, but not to the extent of falling below expectations for the assignment. The piece may not always be thorough, clear, thoughtful, or engaging to a general reader. Or, it may have a high number of errors in grammar/style, but not to inhibit readability. ″D″ or ″F″ – At this level, the piece is incomplete in some major areas, does not meet minimum stated expectations, or there are ″readability″ issues (where some sentences are unclear as worded).
